In Christian mythology, Jesus is the 'Son of God'. He was supposedly born of a virgin, went around telling people to love each other, and was nailed to a tree for it. Three days later he supposedly came to life, wandered around a bit, and then went back to heaven, where he acts as an intercessor between mankind and god, who would send them all to hell automatically otherwise, except that he loved them enough to send his son to be brutalized and killed in order to make it possible for him to bear their presence.
Past that - there might be some shreds of evidence that a man named Jesus existed - Romans were meticulous record keepers, but after thousands of years, God (sic) only knows.
As far as the myths go - there are plenty of myths that predate the bible that involve virgin birth, and saviors of mankind. The Jesus story is hardly original, and has no credibility.

As fas as the view that there is an Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent Creator holds, then yes, Jesus was the son of God just as all of us are the Sons and Daughters of God.
The difference was that Jesus Knew it. I believe that his use of language i.e. God in the masculine, was because he was working within the limitations of what could be accepted or understood within the culture and time of his life.
Whether or not there is a God is another question. The Buddha always sidestepped this question by saying that it is more important that you take 100% responsibility for you life and your actions than getting distracted on philosophical questions re a Supreme Being because at the end of the day it is your own Karma which will save or condemn you to suffer.

The Bible IS fact. Jesus is God, and The Son of God, and you will be convinced some day...whether in time to do you any good, or not, we don't know yet. BTW, prove by fact that YOU even exist. If you do not accept The Bible, and do not accept another persons' personal knowledge, you will accept nothing. Even your own eyes/mind can mislead you. Are your dreams real? Do foods still have flavor when you can't taste them because you have a cold? At some point you have to rely on something outside yourself as a referrence point for knowng what is. Your feeble little brain can not understand all, or explain all, or prove all. A virus only fits two of the three requirements for being alive...so is it alive, or dead, or something else? Prove it.

Hottie,
Although, You may not consider the Bible as completely factual, it is considered as a Historical Document and is therefore useful in assisting in the proof of the matter that you are asking about. The question of CHRIST'S Authenticity as GOD'S SON lies in the Scriptures and the fact the HE met all of the requirements of the Messiah as described in the Old Testament. The Israelites awaited HIM for many centuries and when HE did come they did not recognize HIM. Have a great week.
Thanks,

I'm gonna tell you that this is not even for the common person to understand. To start off the fact is in the Bible. 2nd the Jesus , GOD , and the holy spirit make up the Trinity. Even though Jesus is the Son of God HE is still God. This is a hard concept to understand but that is what Christianity is about. FAITH

You will find no such FACT anywhere. Those who are saying the bible is fact are missing the point entirely. Religion is a faith- all religion is faith. Faith, by its very nature , requires a lack of facts. Faith IS believe without evidence. Thats what religion is. Its not special to believe water is wet or sugar is sweet- those are facts. You could not build a religion where the primary focus of its followers was the belief that ice is cold- no one disputes that, so you are proving nothing by believing it. Those who rail on the "Factual" nature of the bible seem to be missing this point.

Yes.
"Both the Old and New Testaments are strongly supported by manuscript evidence (the evidence of early hand written copies). The famous Dead Sea Scrolls are one example of the Old Testament evidence. These documents came from the “library” of a settlement founded at Qumran before 150 B.C. and abandoned about 68 A.D. Some of the manuscript copies were made during that period, and some were written earlier (third century BC) and brought to the settlement. Ignoring spelling-oriented (orthographic) changes and similar small differences, the Dead Sea Scrolls match the Hebrew text behind today’s Old Testament, in spite of the passage of over 2,000 years (where one would expect errors to creep in)."
"Over 20,000 known manuscripts document the New Testament text. This makes the New Testament the most reliable document of antiquity (a document written before the printing press). These manuscripts vary in size from a part of a page to an entire Bible (Old and New Testaments). The earliest New Testament manuscripts date from the second century (100-199) AD These manuscript copies were written in different languages by people of different nationalities, cultures, and backgrounds. In spite of all those differences between them, the New Testament texts all agree. (That is, those differences that we do observe between these hand written documents are occasional changes in the spelling of names or isolated cases of missing or changed words. Still, since we have so many copies, it is obvious to anyone but the hardened skeptic can that they all represent the same text.)"
"Further, the New Testament writings (before they were assembled into the “book” we call the New Testament) circulated during the lifetimes of thousands of people who had actually seen Jesus’ miracles and other historic events. No one ever refuted the New Testament writings as “fairy tales.”

God spoke to Adam and comforted him, saying to him, .... ‘O Adam! do not grieve, for I will restore thee to thine inheritance, ...... for thy transgression of my commandment, I will send my dear Son; He will come down to the earth, He will be clothed with a body from a Virgin of thy race, named Mary.
Flavius Josephus. , the Antiquities, xvii, 3.3 he writes this:
And there arose about this time Jesus, a wise man, if indeed we should call him a man; for he was a doer of marvelous deeds, a teacher of men who received the truth with pleasure. He led away many Jews, and also many of the Greeks. This man was the Christ [or Messiah]. And when Pilate had condemned him to the cross on his impeachment by the chief men among us, those who had loved him at first did not cease; for he appeared to them on the third day alive again, the divine prophets having spoken these and thousands of wonderful things about him; and even now the tribe of Christians, so named after him, has not yet died out.

Think about what your saying, how can I give you facts if I was not there to witness anything. Do I believe that Jesus is the son of God, yes. Can I prove it to 100% truth, no I cannot. I believe it, but I can not prove it anymore then I can prove the universe started with a big bang.

We are all the sons and daughters of God. Jesus merely recognized this and did not succumb to the pervasive human pathology of the beleif that we are seperate from God.

I guess the best example I can give you is this....
What if you went around claiming to be the Son of God. Hypothetically speaking. Anyways, Let's say that people started to get really angry at you for making such a claim. You and I know you are not the Son of God, but yet you claim to be and in the process you anger people to the point that they want to kill you because of it. Would you hold true to that lie? Or, would you eventually crack and say, "You know what? I was just kidding. I'm not really the Son of God and therefore, you don't have to kill me."
Well, Jesus never retracted his statement. He died believing he was the Son of God. Why would he hold true to a lie if it was going to cost him his life? I know I wouldn't.
I'd like to point out you have no proof that the Bible is indeed not FACT.
