Of course. You don't want everything to match. You need contrast for it to be appealing and pleasing to the eye!

I think you should keep your dark wood furniture. It'd be a waste just to buy new things when you already have them. If it just does't look right paint the walls a colour that would make your furniture and floors go good together. Try adding some accessories that match your furniture and floors and keeps the focus of anything that doesn't match. Hope you find your answer!

Yes you can. You will just have to get creative with accessories. You will need to get accessories with muticolored woods in it.

The centerpiece of any living room is usually the coffee table and acent tables. Perhaps you could find some with multi colored wood on them. They make them... I have seen them in furniture stores.

That would tie the room together.

Paint the room a sage green and put lots of plants in the room.

Go with a natural themed room. Use the river rocks in accessories... water features....and leaf patterns in wall art to make it seem as if the difference in the wood was meant to be.... not an accident.

Things are always varied in nature....and your room decor can be too.

if you don't mind keep the furniture, some people wouldn't but it's your house so it's your choice. when i moved we kept the kitchen set even though there is light wood in the room plus we have a dark colored buffet table and no one told us it looked stupid.

Sure, as long as you keep everything in balance. I have honey maple floors, light ash, and blacl furniture. As long as you have other pieces and accessories in the same color family and place them well it should look fine.
Mitchy matchy colors and furniture would blend in together and sort of dissapear.

No problem. You don't want the furniture to blend in with the floors. There needs to be contrast.

Absolutely, especially for the contrast. And think of how you'll most likely be using area rugs which will break it up even more. Professional decorators actually hate to "matchy-match" everything. It's all in how you pull things together.

Sure!

You might want to add some bold colors to your decorating scheme, but medium and dark woods can work together well.

Contrast is always a good thing.
Spice it up up with drapes, throw, and some decortive pillows that will tie the different color together for a fun and diverse room! Good Luck!

sure but if you don't like how it looks, pull it together with curtains or an area rug. Maybe even art on the wall or tables. Brown (earth tones in general) are great to work with
