I see many people on here claiming that I am not a Christian.

According to Merriam-Webster Dictionary, and Christian is one who professes their faith of Jesus Christ.

I did that, I believe and have faith in Him, I keep his commandments, I read the bible, I take communion, I was baptized, I pray, and much more.

So why do people say I'm not a Christian?

And don't say because you believe in a different Jesus, because I don't. I believe in the same Jesus Christ you do.

It is the aspect of how we believe in salvation. It is also the aspect of how we view the nature of Jesus Christ, before, during, and after his birth that we Christians, yes, I said we Christian are about to celebrate. We of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints believe in the preexistence. This is scriptural (Jeremiah 1:5). We believe that it Jesus who talked to the prophets of the Old Testament (John 8:58). We do believe that he is one of the individuals that make up the Godhead and that he is a separate personage from God the Father and the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16-17; Acts 7:57-58). There is more scriptural evidence, but some will continue to quote the passage of Jesus saying, "I and my father are one." They interpret this as Jesus saying he is also the Father that created the heavens and the earth. There are other competing scriptures that others will use to refute the scriptures I have given. I wonder if this is why atheist doesn’t believe in the words of the Bible. They do think it is full of conflicting anecdotes. I believe the Bible to be the true word of God. I also believe that the Book of Mormon is also the true word of God. I believe that Joseph Smith Jr. did see God the Father and his son Jesus the Christ in what we term as, "the first vision." I believe that Joseph Smith was commissioned by Jesus and God the Father to restore the true Gospel and bring back the priesthood that was lost after the last of the ancient apostles was taken. I believe that the Gospel that is taught by the church and faith I belong to is the one taught by Jesus the Christ nearly 2000 years ago. This is my testimony and I hope those that read this will accept it as it is.

Thank you

I think it's because if you are Mormon, then they assume you do not have the same faith in God as they do. This may or may not be true, and may or may not let you into heaven when you die, but it is something that is only between you and Jesus/God.

I've noticed that a lot of Mormons get frustrated when they find that non-latter day Christians and non-Christians don't think they believe in the same Jesus. But now I've really started to wonder why that is because Mormons happen to think exactly the same thing of non-Mormons don't they?

Don't Mormons believe that no one is actually saved unless they are Mormon? Isn't that why they call themselves by a different name so as to show the difference between them and other Christians and churches? This may be the same reason why many Christians don't think Mormons are Christians.

According to the Bibles that I read, this is what makes a person a Christian.

17 "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

If you are a Mormon who trusts God through Jesus Christ, then you aren't the first Mormon who I've met who is saved.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I believe in the same Jesus Christ in the Old Testament, New Testament, and the Book of Mormon. If anyone says we believe in a different Jesus, then so do they.

The issue isn't one of "believing" in Jesus, but rather in believing the gospel. In this, the teachings of the Mormon church are in conflict with Scripture.

It is those who believe the gospel who receive the Holy Spirit, which is the earnest of salvation.

Look at what you believe you must do in order to be saved. Do you believe you have to do anything beyond what is revealed in the preaching of the gospel as found in Scripture?

For example, do you believe you have to be a Mormon in order to be saved?

Because of how new a religion Mormonism is, it isn't often accepted by the older demominations of Christianity. Most of them haven't done the research and only see the 'bad' aspects of Mormonism, like polygamy, even though that is hardly ever practiced by modern day Mormons.

These are the same people who say Catholics are not true Christians. Don't take it personally.

It is a matter of 'trinity' - instigated by the Nicene Council - this concept is what causes the confusion about who God is and who Jesus is. If there is 'trinity' - then God, Jesus and the Holy Ghost are not seperate entities as the LDS know them to be.

That is also where the different Jesus idea comes from.

People like to redefine words. Mormons are Christian, some other Christians are just idiots and narrow the definition they use.

If you are believing in the Jesus from the Bible, then I guess you are a Christian. Trouble is, the Mormon faith teaches some very strange things about Jesus and God. I have heard them teach that Jesus and Lucifer were brothers, for example, and that Jesus was a created being like us rather than being God like the BIble really teaches. So....which one do you believe in?
