Almost completely true. The Earth's orbit is an ellipse which does play a minor role in our seasons. The northern hemisphere's winter is the time of closest approach to the sun. (I wonder if this plays a role in the fact that the southern hemisphere's winters are colder.)

Well, given that a lot of the Jesus mythology is based on Mithras (birthday 12/25), and that the astronomical legend of Mithras involves the precession of the Earth's axis, then it would be true. Of course, we now know that the precession is a periodic phenomenon, and the story followed the change.

No, if there wasn't an axial tilt, then we would have an eclipse, lunar and solar switching turns, every 2 weeks.
Never heard of that happen, sorry.
