I don't get concerned when the secondary teeth come in a little early or a bit late--so long as they come in. Delayed eruption is more of a concern, as it may indicate inadequate room for the teeth or some other problem.
As far as coming in behind the primary (baby) teeth--this is perfectly normal. They come in this way more often than not. Usually the pressure of the tongue eventually tips them forward into the correct position.
The pain may be related to the six-year molars coming in, but since you say there is "a lot" of pain it would be a good idea to have her checked when your dentist returns.

Good luck,
Steve Bornfeld, DDS

She very well could be getting her permanent teeth, it is a little early, but not abnormal. Usually the primary teeth come out before the permanent teeth come in, sometimes they need to be extracted. Make sure that she is brushing well, you don't get a second chance with the permanent teeth, and want them to be as healthy as possible, they need to last her a lifetime. You may need to assist her with this, as 4 year olds do not have the motor skills to do a thorough job. If she is still eating and drinking normally just wait until her dentist gets back and call them to see what they think. I would treat her with over the counter pain meds (like tylenol) if she is experiencing a lot of pain, or having trouble sleeping. If the problem is interfering with her eating/sleeping I would contact her pediatrician to seek their advice. She will be fine, so don't worry. Good Luck to you!!

Baby teeth don't have roots to do a root canal on. Perhaps she just has caps? My advice would be ibuprofin and tylenol for pain and contact the pediatrician. And teeth come in when they come in. Some kids get them early, some late.

You ramble excessively.

If the child has this much pain, call her pediatrician and explain or go to ER. 12 root canals?are you kidding on baby teeth...never heard of such a thing. It is time for teeth to come in. My son lost his baby teeth between 4 and 5 and his new teeth came in right away. She may have to have them pulled since the root canals. Get to a doctor.

I don't believe they do root canals on baby teeth. and if your 4 year old needs them maybe she needs to BRUSH HER TEETH! cut out the sweets ...and brush.!

HELLO MOMMA,

OK, SO YOUR CHILD HAD 12 PULPOTOMIES. THAT'S QUITE A LOT. THIS TELLS ME HER DIET CONTAINS MUCH SUGAR AND SHE DOESN'T BRUSH VERY WELL.
ADVICE= TEACH HER BETTER BRUSHING HABITS AND CUT BACK ON HER SWEETS INTAKE IN HER DIET.
UNTIL SHE CAN SEE HER DENTIST GIVE HER SOME CHILDREN'S MOTRIN TO HELP HER PAIN.
