The real rip off is from all those so called experts who jump on the global warming bandwagon for their own power hungry gain, they should put up or shut up. Of course there is climate change but that has been going on since the world began.

Right now, in my opinion, it is the hours Congress spends on developing CAFE standards to reduce emissions, while passing no bills on defense spending to protect the nation from terrorism.
The only "experts" who push global warming are politicians and the media with no training in the sciences. The real scientists are publishing articles in major newspapers that warn of the politicization of junk science and the danger of substituting faulty models as empirical proof. One such scientist who shares Gore's Nobel says that even though Gore is his co-prize winner, he does not reach the same conclusions at all that Al Gore makes. His point was that we do not know enough to jump to the hysterical conclusions Al Gore makes and he points out huge flaws in the models he has developed that Al Gore and the media use.

"Offsets" are the biggest. They are a way for someone to say they actually care, when they are too lazy to change their lifestyle. Al Gore is one of the biggest people for these things, he has to be with the massively higher energy use with his home.
Global Warming is a trick to make money, that's all there is to it. There are some people that are foolish enough to really believe in it, but they are just the dupes. The scientific community and media are trying to make money in their own way. The scientists have made up a "threat" so that they can get grants to "study" something that they will never have to really solve. The media takes this and gets more ratings, so they can get paid more to advertise. Politicians chip in since it gives them a make-believe position to take on it.
