With all the modern means of birth control and pregnancy prevention how many feel it is murder to kill a human no mater what stage of development it is in? If not shouldn't we amend and extend abortion laws until the kid is at least a year old just so we can see if it is a keeper? Tell me why it would be more wrong?

i'm atheist and abortion is murder...you decide for a little creature who has no fault...people should be aware of the probable consequence of having unsafe sex.

I support abortion rights, but I don't think it should extend much past the first trimester, and definitely not once the baby can survive outside the womb. At that point, adoption would solve the problem more ethically than abortion. And, if we allow Gay couples to adopt, there would be more loving homes available to these kids.

The reason I support abortion rights is in cases of rape and incest. A child should never be forced to have a child, because of something some sick adult did to them. Ideally, they should be able to get emergency contraception as quickly as possible, so that they do not have to have an abortion. It is the last resort for women and girls in a desperate situation, and I don't think we should take that away from them.

It's a personal choice with personal views. I view a fetus as human life, a potentional human, just as it were as an unfertlized egg.

Make abortion legal and you're going to run into a hell of a lot more problems. Babies left on doorsteps, more mothers on welfare, more child abuse (most who want an abortion are doing it because they don't want children. How can you love something you don't want?), more back alley abortions with a coat hanger, need for more teachers for bigger schools because of more children, more daycare workers, more health care costs, the list goes on.

Just let people chose for themselves whats best for them instead of forcing them to carry the pregnancy out full term.

Well, at one year I think we've gone at least 6 months too far. I wonder though, how one can determine consciousness. That seems to be the problem. Some people imagine that the embryo is conscious but I don't think that they are. Also, I think that the issue is too complex to say never allow it. There are too many situations where the child and mother could be compromised.

Some parents fight to save a premature baby's life. If we can save the life of babies that small why do we then kill others? Killing is wrong nomatter what. With so many birth controll options out now there should be a law to ban abortion. If you didn't want to get pregnant you should have to use something if your not gonna keep your legs closed.

Atheist, huh. Well, is it better to doom a child to a substandard existence consisting of abuse and pain? Oh, that's right all the children of unfit mothers (and fathers) are adopted. The truth is that many "crack babies" are never put up for adoption and the ones that are are often passed over in favor of healthy, "less damaged" ones. People who can even be counted on to wipe their own rear can not be counted on to take birth control, get sterilized, or raise a baby. I do not believe in abortion after the 1st trimester, but do for these reasons and medical one- up to this point.

It would be wrong because BIRTH is the point when a mere RPE (reproductive-process entity), which is worthless when UNwanted, and is never defended as a person anywhere in the Bible... achieves personhood.

It would be more wrong because at that point the kid is not infringing on the unwilling mother's bodily integrity. That's the reason abortion is legalized and infanticide is not.

That would be horrible. Are you a "keeper"? Should we kill you now, if you're not physically "perfect" and making a six-figure salary?
If you go down that road, it leads to Hitler.
Yes, I believe killing a baby at any stage of development is murder, and even having "exceptions" for "health or life" of the mother is unconscionable, because doctors are supposed to give the best care possible to BOTH of their patients at all times, and not at the expense of one's life. If a doctor must perform a procedure on a pregnant woman that would save her life, but put her baby in danger, he should take the risk, but still try to save the baby, not abort it outright, because there's still a chance that the baby could live, and that puts it in God's hands, not the doctor's.

Maybe we should all be able to decide for ourselves what is right vs. wrong regarding abortion, and stop all the self-appointed religious zealots from imposing their beliefs on the rest of society?

There should be no "WE" involved in the abortion decision - it is ENTIRELY up to the woman who is considering this (and possibly the father of the child-to-be) to decide!!!

If you believe that it's murder - than DON'T do it... And let those who have DIFFERENT beliefs practice whatever THEY choose to...

A woman's body is HER business - and both the STATE and the CHURCH have NO RIGHT to say otherwise!!!
