Cardio Kickboxing which is focused on weight loss and toning up. However it's not really a martial art ._.
You can't really say which style would be best because in the end it would all depend on your instructor and how hard you push yourself. However, I suggest that you should try these styles: Taekwondo, Karate, and Kung Fu (wushu).
good luck.
You also remember the most important thing: a good instructor.
Here is a short video that I think is helpful of finding a good instructor.

I would have to say Muay Thai or kickboxing. Both stress the use of both the upper and lower body equally and push you at a faster pace with bag work, pad drills and foot work drills, and with shadow boxing than traditional martial arts. Traditional martial arts can be a good workout but not in the beginning because you are going at a slower pace to develop your skill and technique for promotion purposes and what not. Once you get to the intermediate and advance levels then that can balance out some but for the first year tradtional martial arts is not as good as those two are.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I did Kung fu and that was a workout and a half. There was lots of full body movement and fast movements. It doesn't really matter on the martial art though, it is more of how you go about it. If you sloppily go through the motions and walk the entire form, the workout will be highly minimal. Howeve,r if you go full force and act as though you are actually hitting someone who is trying to attack you or actually punching a bag with each of your hits, it will be much more effective.

For just cardio purposes I would say any karate discipline. The katas burn a lot of calories. That's not knocking other martial arts, I just think you sweat more in karate.

Muay-Thai.

It is extremly strenous and you -will- get into shape. But there is a signifigant risk of injury, so maybe go with something less high-impact.

Really, there is no wrong answer here. Any martial art worth the name will provide you with an excellent cardiovascular workout. Just pick one that fits your personal style and tastes.

I do TKD, that has really helped me tone up. The key thing is to put power in wut you are doing in class. You would go 5 times a week and not lose wight if you are cheating, like just putting your arm out there when you where suppose to do a punch, and only doing 5 sit ups out of 20 for the teacher was watching you for the first 5 and you then stop for he/she is not looking at you. For that is wut most of the people in my class do. Are teacher will watch you for a little bit then when she is gone just about the hole class stops, until she looks over at them again. So just pick any martial art that you want to do and do it with out cheating. For if you do it right you will lose wight in no time :)

disciplines? Not sure what you mean but I've taken Tae kwon do (korean martial arts) for 1 hour 3 days a week, and it was a very good work out.

but you might want to try Tai chi,

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be

i lost 10 lbs. in my first 2 months of brazilian jiu jitsu, and it's not like i was fat or anything, i was in decent shape but jiu jitsu is very strenuous. if you start looking around at bjj gyms make sure there are some girls that go to them because the whole art revolves around positions and techniques that ahh..yeah theres no other way to put this-they resemble sex positions so unless you're into that sort of thing make sure there are some girls to roll with.
