You make a good point, but it's difficult to WANT a stranger putting a tube into your rectum, and beyond. Never had one, so I don't know what the experience is like, but it's not something people look forward to.

Truthfully, it is a pain in the butt.

The doctor makes you get one at that age because there is a higher rate of colon cancer after 50.
Though I know a young lady with 3 little girls that died from colon cancer at age 31.

colonoscopies are recommended after 50 because you are not likley to have colo-rectal cancer until you reach 50.

They cost money so they try to target the age when you are most likely to get colon cancer.
