Proverbs Chapter 8 infers that God had a partner before the earth was formed, one who took joy in His work. Genesis is usually worded to state that Man was created in Our image, Man and Woman, He created them. Why would God think Man needed a partner, if He did not have one Himself?

Proverbs 8 uses wording to infer this pre-Earth entity, called Wisdom, was "female".

God is the Father of the spirits of all mankind. He is the Father of Jesus as the only begotten in the flesh. (literally the father of his spirit and then later the father of his body). God needed Mary to be the mother of Jesus in the flesh. Was there ever a child born that did not have a Father & Mother? Is not the pattern for mankind on earth after the pattern in heaven?

Romans 8
16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…. So God created man in his image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them." (Genesis 1:26-27) It is significant that God said "Let us make man in our image," and that the image of God is defined as "male and female".

Hebrews 12
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

Numbers 16 (Moses & Aaron speaking to God...)
22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh,

Psalm 82
6....all of you are children of the most High.

Yes, God repeatedly states in the Bible that He has a wife: ISRAEL. However, God's wife is currently "put away" due to idolatry and rebellion. Read Jeremiah 3 and the entire book of Hosea for more information. God's wife is not what is referenced at Proverbs 8, though.

This Wife is not to be confused with the Bride of Christ -- i.e. the Church, which is made up of Jewish and Gentile believers.

Read back into Proverbs 7

1 My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.
2 Keep my commandments, and live; and my law as the apple of thine eye.
3 Bind them upon thy fingers, write them upon the table of thine heart.
4 Say unto wisdom, Thou art my sister; and call understanding thy kinswoman:

The context continues through into Proverbs 8. Remember the Bible was never divided into chapters or verses way back when. One chapter is not independent of another, except perhaps the Psalms which stand alone as individual pieces of music and lyric.

In other words, wisdom is your guide and companion, not God's.

If God is a Trinity, He is already a social being, speaking very very loosely now. And the understanding of those Jewish and Christian collectorys of the Scriptures must be taken in mind. They would reject your 'wife' theory and you can't quote their texts in a sense they explicitly rejected. There are -- as you know -- other ways to take Proverbs Chapter 8.

Adam gave him the idea.

Read it again, Adam looks around after naming all the animals and says "Hey why do all the animals have a place to put it, but not me." So God relents and makes Eve out of his rib bone.

This is just an example of biblical aversion towards women. It takes them out of the original creation, introduces them as a whim of Adams desire, then tells us that they are responsible for the existence of sin on the earth, when Eve eats the apple.

Those goat herders really hated their women.

O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.

wisdom means wisdom.

We are made in his image... it's not the other way around. Man needs a partner for obvious reasons.

Wisdom is a metaphor here!

It refers to the wisdom of womankind, where as man does have a tendancy to act rashly.

Your misinterpreting the verses. Solomon is stating that wisdom is the greatest of all of God's attributes and it is largely through that attribute that the universe was created.

God is triune. There is some evidence to point to some feminine characteristics in the person of the Holy Spirit. That doesn't mean He had a wife.

However, Jesus has a bride, the church.

I assume you are referring to verse 22 that some versions say "possessed me." If you read NIV or more contemporary versions it says created. He created a partner for us so we would not be lonely.
