Yes.. parents lay the foundation.
Also, with my son, he will receive educational knowledge, spiritual knowledge, moral knowledge & practical life knowledge. You can't get all of that from most teachers.

I would sure hope so! Kids are around a teacher for a couple hours a day for 10 months. If their influence is more important then a parent's you have a problem. The parent is there every day for their entire lifetime.
