If you are willing to try out new recipes (and it sounds like you are, since you're here asking), I heartily recommend Epicurious.com. Some of the dishes are more labor-intensive than others, but they all come with reviews, prep time, recipe lists and feedback. They even have a Christmas Idea Center right now. That should be helpful for decorating and side dish ideas.
For the Main Course, however, you might try looking in a different place, as their main courses are ham and pork etc.
If meat is not entirely off the menu, try a nice baked Salmon. You can easily dress it up with some dill and capers. It should be pretty easy to make, won't take forever, and is a nice treat.
Other food suggestions: Orange-glazed baby carrots, steamed asparagus, mashed potatoes (instant will work too, and it can be your secret :)), green bean casserole (see the back of the French's fried onions tin), or baked sweet potatoes.
Good luck! And remember, it's not a crime to farm out some of the work to relatives who offer to bring something. Merry Christmas!

Since I don't know what you cook well, or your meat-eating status, it's sort of difficult. How about lasagna? It is very easy to cook, a pan goes a long way, and people generally love it. Another good place to start is with something you make well. Maybe you make the best spaghetti in your entire family - go with it! Maybe you are a grill master - grill something! My family always does steak and lobster for Yule.
A great and easy appetizer is rumaki - water chestnuts wrapped in bacon, then broiled until the bacon is cooked. There are many variations on this including liver, shrimp, etc. You can find very good, very easy recipes on line for this. You can also have a good relish tray with veggies, dip and pickles/olives. People typically like this sort of thing.
Good luck - I know you'll do great!

Turkey and ham are the staples for holiday meals. But you could always make a nice roast or bake some salmon. Good luck
