Yah, it is normal. My parents cats has the same problem.

My parents didn't see it as a problem. But here's some things you can try:

1.) Trimming the hair around it's butt. Yes, it sounds annoying but better than wiping his butt every day!
2.) Maybe change his diet. I'm sure if his poop is runny, it will stick more often. I suggest talking to the vet if this is the case.

Good luck.

My cat had the same problem. I took him to the vet and he said that my cat is over weight and cant clean himself properly back there. If your cat looks over weight then I suggest putting him on a diet where you give smaller portions twice a day. You can also help your cat by cutting the hair around the butt so the poop wont get stuck as bad.

All long haired cats have this problem. You have to periodically trim the hair around his butt, and yes, all cats do occasionally get some poop stuck there. If you give him a good cut around his butt and legs, he should be able to do fine.

I have two cats; one is sleek and the other I describe as "fluffy" She not only has long hair, it's pouffy and this problem exists. At first, we tried the "potty trim" by a professional groomer, but have since learned to live with it through the winter months. When it warms up, we take her to the groomer and have a lion cut. It is absolutely adorable and she is sooooo happy to be free of the weight and is so much lighter. It's not unusual at all with this type of hair. If you have the where-with-all to do the trim yourself, more power to you. I don't have the patience. Good luck!

I have a short hair with the same problem. Have a vet check kitty for cystitis and diabetes. See if kitty has diareah, if so restrict to dry food for a week and see if it helps. Cutting the cats hair out of the way is also an option with a long hair. It might just be bad luck hair.

It's normal for long haired cats. They will eventually clean it up themselves, but if it bugs you, wipe it off yourself. Like said above, make sure your cat isn't have bowel troubles. Diarrhea is more likely to get stuck and harden.

It isnt that unusual-I have same problem w/my cat Rainy. But my cat is very large, well ok hugely fat-and that doesnt help.

Try trimming the fur around the'affected area' :D That helped me out tremendously. Also my vet said to feed her Iams catfood for tighter/drier stools.

Good luck!

You can shave around his bottom. My cat has the same problem, she's not long hair, but medium hair...however, she can't reach her rear because she is old and large=)

Make sure you clean him well, if not it could lead to an infection=( That's what happened to my poor kitty=(

This is normal. Trim the hairs by his butt, and this should stop the poop from getting stuck. I'm sure he hates it as much as you do.
