Like, booking a party, planning to give away all their possessions, anything like that? It would be interesting to know if anyone believes this apocalyptic nonsense enough to put their money (or anything else) where their mouth is.

Yeah, if anyone feels like signing their wealth over to me, in order to grease their slide into Heaven, just let me know OK? :-)

Interesting answers... Doesn't look like we've got any End Times enthusiasts here at the moment.

I think it's stupid to think the world will end in 2012, so I don't.

No. From a religious standpoint, Jesus stated that man has no way of knowing when the apocalypse will come. 2012 is simply the year that the Mayan calandar stopped. Likely because they had to stop counting at some point, and the fact that 2012 is the last year of a particular era they were counting.

From a scientific standpoint, there's no proof that would lead me to believe the world is ending in 2012. I suppose it could, if some asswipe starts a nuclear war. Or if there's a chain of natural disasters. NATURAL disasters. Or an asteroid crashes into the Earth.

But the end of the world from a religious view, no, I don't believe it.

Jesus said no one knows the day or the hour when He will return. We are to live our lives like He will return anytime. We must be always ready, and that means being right with God when the time comes, so that we may be found blameless, and will go to be with Him for eternity.
As far as 2012, that's got something to do with the Aztec calender or something. It doesn't mean anything.

That would blow, I will be graduating in 2014 and if the world is going to end in 2012 I'm putting a lot of unnecessary work into this degree.

the aztecs didn't say the world would end in 2012 they said that that was the end of the age.....something is going to happen in 2012 but it's not the end of the world

The Rush album?

I am avoiding the Oaks.

;-)

Actually there are always plenty of rubes who will be led by faith into ruining their lives over superstition and apocalyptic fervor.

There are people, still forced to live off of their Y2K stockpile of rice and canned food.

Jesus says he will return "like a thief in the night" none shall know the day nor hour, only the Father.

Jesus gave us signs to look for but never clearly set a date for the end of the world.

I try to base my life on the idea that I might go at any time. I party a lot. I'd sure feel special to witness the end.
