I'm short on cash and was thinking about making choco chip, peanut butter, and sugar cookies to give to my coworkers. I will probably give them each 4 of each kind of cookie, making it a dozen, and a card. Does that seem ok? Do you like to receive baked goods from non-family?
Also, what's a nice way to wrap/package the cookies? I can't find any of those Christmas tins anywhere, I've looked. So, what else?
Thanks!

I think it would be great if my coworkers brought me cookies :) It shows that even though you don't have a lot of money to spend, you were willing to take the time out of your day to make something. Just throw 'em on a plate and cover them in red or green plastic wrap. Keep it simple, as they're just going to destroy it in an attempt to devour the cookies! Now, as far as delivering the cookies, let me give you my address...

I think that this is probably a much nicer gift than a bottle of something or other. I love receiving home baked goods as presents as it really shows that the giver has cared enough to go to the bother of doing all of that work. A nice way to wrap them would be to buy some brown paper and some stamps of Christmas designs such as reindeer and holly leaves and some metallic printing inks, then buy some of those clear acetate cookie/sweet bags and then wrap the bags in your home made paper and tie with either metallic painted string in red, green or gold or any other festive colour. Make the presents look like a wrapped sweet or a wrapped bottle. Good luck and I hope I have been some help.

I think that your idea to give your coworkers cookies is a great idea. I'm sure that they'll just appreciate the fact that you thought about doing something for them. As for the packaging, many stores have the decorative Chinese boxes. The boxes look exactly like the boxes that you put food in at Chinese restaurants and they have different Christmas designs on them. They're a great alternative to bags or the standard tins and are cheaper also. I used them to package a few of my friends gifts this year and they loved them.

Oh, you mean I get a nice present at Christmas and a card !!! How nice. Aren't you an angel. I would be very happy !

I know it is late, but you can find inexpensive tins at The Container Store online ..... maybe just wrap them in foil then tissue then some gift wrap .....

I think it sounds thoughtful. I eat food from others- if it's GOOD! I brought in a huge cookie tray one time at work, w/ al kinds of stuff on it, and just set it on a table near everyone. Everyone knew it was from me and were appreciative. Maybe something like that would work? That way only those that wanted it would eat it and those that didn't would still appreciate the thought. My friend just went a bought a bunch of holiday tins at our local Dollar Tree- did you check there? If they don't have any, put them on a paper plate and cover it with red saran wrap. Happy Holidays!

I have received cookies from coworkers, and think it's a very thoughtful and appropriate gift at Christmas. Don't worry about tins, cookies on a paper plate wrapped with plastic wrap and tied with some ribbon is fine. If you want to get fancy, get holiday paper plates and red or green plasic wrap.

Everyone gave pretty nice answers except Qmaus, so I gave a thumbs up to everyone. In spite of the Martha Stewart implications that you have stated in your answer, plus the commercial and sappiness this holiday creates, you need to cheer up, Qmaus!!!

If I were your coworker, I would gladly receive your cookies. In addition to the many places like the Dollar Store, the Dollar Tree, Pier 1, Michaels, Pat Catans, and Family Dollar, you can include recipes on how to make the cookies in the card you give. This way the recipient of your give gets TWO gifts in one--the cookies and the opportunity to make the for themselves :)!!!!!

I prefer a homemade Christmas present over a store bought one... because of the fact that you had to put thought into it and it's made with love well... from the heart... as far as ideas for tins to put the cookies in i would go to the dollar store they should have some there, in fact i just bought some the other day. you can also use different colored plastic wrap or aluminum foil. you can also put them (the cookies) in pie pans and use the plastic wrap to wrap it up. (like you would do with an Easter basket)

good luck and happy holidays
:)

SURE!
That's a great idea!
What's even cuter than cookies?
Buy jars and layer the ingredients to the cookies in the jar and close the jar. Then tie a piece of Christmas ribbon around the jar. Then, the coworker can keep the ingredients and make cookies whenever they need to make them on short notice!

I think anyone would be really happy with your gift. Heres how I do my cookies-- I buy those really cute shirt boxes with Christmas scenes on them and I buy really pretty Christmas tissue paper to put in the box and wrap over the cookies. All you need to add is a couple candycanes in with the cookies. Its a thoughtful gift.
