My mom says it does, and it'll screw up my whole university.
Everybody will know about it. Is this true?

I think that you are saying that if you are diagnosed ADD, that colleges will find out that you are, ruining your chances of being admitted?

If that is your question, it's not true. Colleges are not interested if you have ADD. My University has 60,.000+ students-- they can't keep track of it anyway. AND-- if they did have that information, it would be against the law for them to discriminate against you.

Honestly ADD isn't that big of a deal. It seems these days doctor are diagnosing it more and more. You have nothing to worry about.

You're mother is very wrong. My nephew had ADD in the worse way...and was put on medications to correct/help the ADD. He finished all his education successfully, and there was never a trace of it added to his records. Teachers need to know when there is a medical/physical problem with a student... that I do believe in. When a student has been diagnosed with ADD and is put on proper medication, I just don't believe the "world" needs to know about that.

okay no. First off if you get it done by the school then yes they will know. If you have ADD it has NOTHING to do with getting into college.thats actually a very awful thing for your mother to say. Class mates wont know but your teachers in high school will. I have ADHD i was put on medication and got some help with it because mine was soo bad. i did soo much better in school because of it. I got excepted to each college I applied to. It has NOTHING to do with you getting in. it would acutally benifit you and get you in faster if you got help for it if you did have it.

Medical information cannot go anywhere without your written consent. The laws regarding private medical information are very strict on this. There is no way the school will find out about your medical record unless you give them permission to find out in writing, and then give permission in writing to your doctor to tell them.
