Veterans of Foreign Wars
American Legion
American Red Cross

I'll guarantee you that if one of these organizations can't help you themselves, they'll put you in touch with somebody who can.

My husband loved the crystal light single packets, the same for propel or gatorade (helps with hydration), gum, microwave meals (the food isn't always the best over there), beef jerky, travel games, cards, cookies, little boxes of cereal, fruit snacks. And a lot of the soldiers like to get stuff that they can pass out to the Iraqi children because the kids don't have much. So things like coloring books, pens, markers, and some toys would probably also be good. Books are also good, word finds, cross word puzzles for down time. Cheap disposable cameras. Little things to keep them busy during the little down time that they have. Stuffed Animals and blankets. It's getting too warm there so don't send anything that can melt. Also the socks are a BAD idea as they don't really need them as they are standard issue.

The USO idea is good. You will need to send to a specific person or they will go to the dead letter office.

Try a phone call to the closest base. I would start by telling the operator what you are trying to do. They will likely know who to transfer the call to.
