There are whole library shelves full of books that might provide some help in getting the facts straight.
The History Channel is still show biz.

You have to remember that the History Channel, like all TV channels, is in the entertainment business. They make shows that attract the most viewers possible based on the shows' entertainment value.
It's not a legitimate historical source. It's an entertainment venue. Does that mean that nothing on it is accurate? No, absolutely not. Most of the stuff is fairly accurate, but it's told by individuals who have a particular perspective and who are trying to make a particular point, and the ultimate goal is to entertain people.

Come on, CatInThePope'sHat! You know religion isn't about "facts"! Silly puss!
For that matter, history isn't all that much concerned with facts either! Just ask two people who were involved in a car accident (with each other!) exactly what happened (ask about twenty minutes AFTER the accident).....You are sure to get two completely different versions of the "facts"!

Anything that promotes the use of your mind is a good thing. The history channel gathers information and presents it. Some things may not be true but in most cases I have researched and found 98% valid information.

I thought it was a comedy channel!!!!
trust them with the facts on religion??
suspect that there is a heavy LDS influence behind the religious programing on the TV networks/systems... we get a choice (gag) catholic, lds, TBN left behind people.....
certainly not going to get anything of religious truth from there....

The National Geographic channel or the Discovery channel! Both are infallible; and so is the History channel!

Of course the history channel can be trusted if you are looking for the truth. If you want fantasy go to your religious channel. Send them your money of course and they will guarantee you a place in heaven.

The history channel is there to entertain us, and the folks in charge over there know that playing dramatic documentary like stories about the lives of Christ, will get the faithful to their sets.

The History channel is supposed to specialize in history. If you want the straight dope on religion, you should go to the Relig-- hmm, I see what you mean.
