Can you play a UK Version PS3 Singstar in a U.S. Playstation 3?

A few people have said "yes" when researching online but I also have heard that you cannot. Which is it?

One person said something about PAL and NTSC format on the games. That UK uses PAL format and US uses the other format.

Yes, PS3 games are region free, but PS1/2 games and movies aren't.

Yes, PS3 games are not region coded.
