The Sun rises everyday right? That's the truth? No it's not, the sun does not rise, it stays where it is, the Earth turns. Truth is an elusive concept, determined by what you have been taught to accept as the truth or what you have learned to judge as the truth. The truth is also fluid, what was true yesterday may not be true today, but may be true tomorrow.

There are mathematicians out there that could prove to you that 2 + 2 does not equal four. Would you accept it as true?

I don't think you can determine what is true, you can only decide what you will accept as true. The best way I know to determine what to accept as the truth is to decide what is not true...what you have left is probably as close to the truth as you will ever get.

A true statement corresponds to the way things actually are, based on observation. The terms "correspond" and
"observation" both need further clarification, but I can't provide those without writing ten more pages.

When there are several different perceptions, you need to determine truth based on two things: correspondence and consistency. A true statement should both correspond to the way things are and be consistent with one's previous beliefs. (Sometimes, this requires revising those previous beliefs).

I let the Torah determine the Truth. So far, I'm a good citizen in my community and do not steal from my neighbors, and I help the homeless and the elderly.

The best way to determine the truth of a proposition is to carefully examine the predictions and retrodictions implied by the proposition to see if they are true.

without all the interferrance? it's tough, but..you have an inner "indicator" and, it can tell the differance. A "lie" can only exhist because there is a truth...if there was no truth, then a lie could not exhist...but, a truth stands by itself without any support..lies, need support from other lies to be able to support themselves (one to another.) like a stack of cards..or house of cards..now...like i said..it's hard..but after a while..it gets easier..to tell the differance...and remember, you have to go through a lot of "dirt" to find an ounce of "gold!" "Peace!"

It took me long to accept that *my* truth is true for me only. That being the beginning point - the rest is easy.

Follow the truth which is right for you.
