Yes. My kitten had a problem and needed to see the vet a few days before her scheduled appointment. The vet gave her the 2nd set of shots since we were there saying it made no sense for us to make an extra trip in a couple of days. (and saved us the extra cost of another visit!)

At the vet clinic I worked at, they wouldn't do ANY vaccines b4 8 wks of age. The first set of shots is a feline distemper and a feline leukemia + a test for feline leukemia (which can be done earlier than 6 wks). A month later, a booster for both are administered. The month after that, the final feline leukemia and a rabies are given. By then, the cat should b of age to get spayed. My cat was also found as a stray at an estimated 3 wks of age, but she didn't receive any vaccines until she was 8 wks old. I got her from the vet clinic I worked at just b4 I left. They did, however, test her for feline leukemia when she 1st got there b/c she didn't look very healthy. She tested positive, but I decided to take her. She's now a pretty healthy 1yr old. I have never heard of a vet wanting to vaccinate twice or of a rescue with such bizarre practices. I would just do what the vet said to do. After all, she knows best. If u r unsure, get a 2nd vet's opinion. Add: A yr after the first vaccines, all need boosters (even the rabies b/c the 1st rabies is usually only for a year. After that, it's every 3 or 4 years- I can't remember which)

It should be fine. If it is not, the vet will not give it. There is a certain number of days you need to wait between vaccines, but you should be fine. You can ask the vet before you go in.
