It isn't lady like and it makes them look vulgar, but not only with the profanity it is also the way that some women dress they leave nothing to the imagination. I think that women who are using profanity in just a normal conversation with out there being any improvocation or a reason for them to be angry are people who have not learned how to communicate and their vocabulary must be very dull, listless, lifeless and small so they use profanity to fit in for everyday verbage. This is not the type of woman that I would want around me, my family, friends or any small children.

Cursing is a specific group of words and a style of language that is necessary to express anger, frustration, sorrow, and other "bad" emotions. There is a general overuse of swearing in the teenage years in both sexes as kids learn the words (and don't get in as much trouble for using them as they grow up).
By conventional standards - consider Victorian/Elizabethan England - a "lady" was unable essentially to display any emotion publicly besides content. This philosophy has gradually died down over the years, especially in America. The considerations of non-conformism have lead to an increase in striving to change this philosophy by some individuals.
Presently, when discussing cursing in context with being "lady-like", it is really necessary to consider the context. I've known women who consider themselves "rebellious", irreverant to so-called feminine standards and practices, and acting the way they feel - there is often much cursing in these people. Conversely, there are individuals who very much uphold the notion of a lady and avoid curse words like the plague itself.
The problem with the first example is that this concept of non-conformity can lead to cursing in situations where it's really neither necessary nor appropriate. To curse when you miss the last bus of the night during a winter storm is one thing; to curse when you drop your pencil is another.
Ultimately, a woman who curses frequently carries a fraction of repulsion just because the common usage of swear words seems to convey to you (and everybody around) that she is in a poor mood. As people generally prefer happiness to sorrow, it is my belief that the polite lady would be much preferable to the cursing non-conformist. Bearing that in mind, people are very different and have many different preferences, and even I have known people who swear often who are very nice and polite as well - there is a time and place for everything and if used in the proper dose it will be ok.

It is unladylike. It makes me do a double take and look at the woman using the foul language. It certainly does make a difference when a woman curses than when a man curses. The old double standard again... No I would not want such a woman that uses foul language, constantly, as a friend.

Bravo.

I don't like it when anyone uses profanity - male or female - young or old. Most profanity offends me. I don't really want to be friends with anyone who uses a lot of profanity on a regular basis.

It doesn't offend me. I like it when a female feels comfortable enough to swear in front of me. It's probably not that sexy to most men but whatever, I don't judge people like that. Now... when a woman burps in front of me, it's definitely not sexy but it's ok because I know she's not a threat and she's not trying to impress me. It is a little strange though. HaHa

It offends me when anyone curses, it doesn't matter the gender. However, the younger the person, the worse it sounds.

Meh, I really couldn't care. So what if a woman uses profanity? If we live in this "equal" society, why judge them on the choice of words they use when it's okay for guys?
