considering much of the merchandise at goodwill or thrift stores are from estates and deceased persons, you would think that some of these items might be attached to a spirit. anyways, i was showering this morning and i heard a scream coming from my living room. it was clear as a bell and i was the only one in the house. maybe it was the chair i just bought from goodwill. it's so damn comfortable, though. maybe the former owner thought so too.

This is very possible. Spirits (all of which are demonic) do and can attach themselves to objects whether from goodwill or not. What is worse, they can possess people as well.

It is possible that that chair does have a demonic spirit linked to it. I suggest you chuck it IF you think it may be the chair "screaming."

God bless.

I've heard of it happening to other people, but thankfully, it's never happened to me. As someone else has already suggested, tell the spirit (if there is actually an entity) to move on because it no longer owns the chair. You can also smudge the chair with sage and/or sweetgrass: if you need to know how that's done, just let me know.

And if you're really concerned, ask a priest or clergyman to do a general house blessing. That tends to remove any negativity in the home, whether it's associated with a particular object or just floating around the place.

I haven't, but if you're a writer it could be a great plot for a story. In fact, imagine how haunted the Good Will STORE must be :)

My mother told me that when she died it was fine to donate her clothes and things like pots/pans/knick-knacks of no sentimental value/etc., to GOODWILL and similar orgs, but she didn't want anything that she really liked- her egg collection, etc., to go there. It's because she was "psychically haunted" by going to thrift stores (I don't mean literally haunted)- it was depressing for her, especially when she was old, seeing items that clearly had sentimental stories behind them for sale for $.49.
I'm similar about CRACKER BARREL restaurants if you're familiar with them. Most are decorated with old 19th century photographs of anonymous farmers/lawyers/soldiers/etc.. CB's decorators buy those from estate sales and flea markets- usually from people, maybe even family members, who have no idea who the people were. I can't sit under one of those pics without feeling the need to apologize, or having a notion that some teensy bit of consciousness in there is saying "Where the hell am I and why are all these people eating around me without offering me nothin'?"

They just have a vibe as far as I have encountered. Sometimes being in an antique store can make me feel lightheaded from the amount of energy in the items.
I am figuring you might have begun to fall asleep in the shower - I sometimes hear things as I start to drift: the beginnings of a dream. There are also things like wind through a lose window or floor boards, or settlement of the building or expansion of parts of the heating system that can give off some otherworldly noises - super creepy ones!

I am not sure how haunting works. I think you create your own reality by what you believe, and if you believe in haunting, then you create ideas in your subconscious mind which you don't control. If these ideas get together, then they create a real experience. Your experience can only be shared by people affected by you directly. A stranger in the same room wouldn't hear what you hear unless they have a subconscious link (Suggested by psychologist Jung, the subconscious of the human race, with memories, can explain people experiencing past life experience etc.).

Don't worry, it's nothing magical, you're simply a little bit crazy like the rest of us.

Short and the Point:

You're case is a very common one, especially if the owner of the items used to practice things that dealt with these evil spirits.

My suggestion to you, is to throw out what ever it was that you bought, better yet burn it, because some of this stuff has a way of finding its way back.

Yes ive heard of item attachment where someone was so attached to an item on an emotional level, that they stick ot it when they pass. I wouldnt want something like that in my house, but i guess if it isnt bothering you then its fun to have a ghost.

Now that is really freakin scary...I have never been haunted by something that I bought used, however, I did buy an old mirror from a furniture resale, and the actual mirror itself looked really creepy, so I had the mirror replaced and I refinished the frame and now it's fine.

Well the chair obviously came form a person who died from a hallucinogenic drug overdose and there are particulates still on the furniture. Hopefully you won't go 1408 on the living room.

Sorry but sounds creapy. I think wood and organic materials seem to hold the most energy. Have it blessed. or get a smudge stick and let the smoke go into the corners of the room.
