I have a 2005 Toyota Corolla. Within the past three weeks, both headlights have gone out (the high beams and fog lights still work... it's just the headlight bulbs). I don't have a manual... does anyone know if this is the type of car I can easily unscrew the plastic cover and change the bulb, or do I have to take it in to have it done? Thanks! :-)

They are easy to change out.

If you don't know how, go to a place like Autozone and ask one of the people if they would help you change out the light if you purchase the bulb from them. Most will do it for free.

It should be easy as 1-2-3. Toyota would not make a modern car with headlights difficult to change. If you are not mechanically inclined I would ask the dealership to check it out...if they want charge you more than $20-$30 for new bulbs and labor then just buy new ones at Wal-Mart and do it yourself.

Make sure the light is truly nothing but time to change oil, etc. If it is for a real problem, the repair bill will be far greater. Many shops and catalogs sell inexpensive readers. Your Toyota will be in the lower price area for these readers. For less than a service call you can buy a reader, hook it into your OBDII socket near your steering wheel and you will not only be able to reset the light, but also know why it is going off. (Very easy procedure.) Good option if you are thinking of keeping the car for a long time.
