There was a time in my life that I believed God turned his back to my suffering - but when I look back at it now, even though I went through some horrible experiences, they made me stronger and I believe a better person.

Not that God has abandoned Man, but that Man has abandoned God... yes, the times are fairly obvious in history.

i do
but i do not go by my feelings which are not constant but the commitment to Love which God proved to me by His dying in a human nature on the Cross for us.
Jesus felt abandoned when He cried" My God, My God, why have you abandoned me?"
I follow Mother teresa's example and I trust God no matter what.

How can an entity that is the very cause of our existence ever abandon us? God does not even abadon us in our death leave alone during our lifetime.

No, that's the thing. God would NEVER abandon us no matter what we do. Would half the world love a god who abandoned them whenever they sinned?
Plus, God himself said in the bible, "Never will I leave you, never will I forsake you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

God is right where He always is.....available It is we humans who move away. The answer lies hidden in your own statement. " it seems God is always too busy when we need Him MOST" With God, there is no "most", it is all or nothing. When we are content we tend to move away from God, forgetting to give Him, His due praise and glory. As a result things start going in a downward spiral for us and then we blame God for not being there. Would you give someone that you love something that you know will not be good for them? Neither does God, and to us, it seems He is not listening. This is not true, He knows what is in our best interest for the long run and will allot accordingly...... If you feel that He is not present in your life right now, the first order of business is for you to restore your relationship with Him. Just as we think it unfair for a "friend" to make contact with us only when he or she wants or needs something, it is this way with God also, you want your friend to share the good times with you too. Accordingly, God wants us to remember Him in our times of joy and abundance..........
