Like there won't be enough water and food for all of us one day. And also do you think we'll run out of space to burry the dead? Like seriously do you think this is possible? In all honesty I could see it happening but not in our life time. Yeah I know I got a pretty crazy mind.

After reading an article on how Bush's "war on women" (liberal rhetoric against his policies on planned parenthood) which was *obviously* causing overpopulation problems because more babies were being born and more women were getting sick (pregnant).... you know the story... I did the following math (I live in Yavapai county, Arizona)
The area of Yavapai County is about 8,128 sq. miles (Wikipedia).

There are approximately 27,879,400 sq feet in 1 square mile, which means there are about 226,603,763,200 sq feet in Yavapai County.

The worlds current population is about 6.585 Billion (Actually about 1.5 million less, but for the sake of round numbers...) http://www.census.gov/

Divide the number of square feet in Yav County by world population...

and your answer is 34.41 square feet of Ground Space (not including multi- leveled buildings) per person if every person in the world was put in this county, Or, roughly a 6x6 space.

I'm not saying that we aren't stupid with our resources, or that we are necessarily using our space wisely. But... there is absolutely no economic justification for abortion considering this:

According to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) there are 140,000,000 Sq. Kilometers of usable land in the world. (I don't think they count livable some areas where people DO live as: remember, these are primarily Europeans we are dealing with)

That is about 1,506,947,458,339,361 Sq Feet. (Big Number!).

The percentage that Yavapai county is compared to this? 0.00015%

Realistically, of course we couldn't all live in Yavapai county, but the perspective ain't bad!.

Nope not even a little bit.
The cities will overflow into the countryside soon enough but we won't run out of water as all the water ever found on this planet is still in use today.
We need to figure out how to clean our water better if we are going to survive.
As to the food question, we might have to change our diet to include some more whole grains and vegetables to make up for the whiners taking our meat away from us. then there's always Soylent Green.
Burying the dead will be a problem unless we start to realize that we only need to bury our dead temporarily. When they are no longer a threat to our lives, up they come and get replaced by new corpses.

well, people do then to live longer now but not in a healthy state so it may be possible. Just yesterday I was in line at the mall and the sound of kids and babies crying overpowered everything else. Where the hell do people keep having kids? I cant even have one!! Vegetation is already suffereing but mostly due to this ridiculous weather change which is sunny one day and snowing the next. That affects it so much and actually ALOT of farmers have gone bankrupt already. Eventualy animals that feed on that vegetation will follow. Or Atleast we'll be paying up the butt for a box of cereal and a cup of milk. Youre not crazy to think that way. Look at China and its "one kid" per family lifestyle. Youre not the only one who thinks that way.

Yes, I do worry about that. It's apparent when you see countries like India and China that people in underdeveloped countries tend to have too many children. I wrote a paper on the topic once and presented it and it was a very compelling thing for me because I realized that population grows exponentially. Most people live to see their children, grandchildren and sometime great grandchildren. If people keep having families or 5 and 10 children then we will eventually wipe trees off the planet. It's a serious problem and I hope that we get it under control one day. The best measure I've seen is the fact that China is now giving incentives for it's people to have only one child. That's definitely a good start...

Naw, God's got everything under control!

Lord willing, soon Jesus will be back in the clouds and rapture all the believers off the face of the planet which will free up some space.

After that, in approximately 3 1/2 years the seal, trumpet, and bowl judgments will start to devestate the earth and its population ... so no, I'm not worried in the least.

But maybe some of you should be.

Have you been watching "Soylent Green"?

Seriously, between disease and man's wars, I think most of us are OK on that being planet wide.

On the Biblical side, Acts 24:15 speaks of a resurrection of the dead on the newly cleansed earth. It is conservatively estimated if every person who ever died were to come back, there would still be plenty of habitable space for all. Just as long as FEMA has nothing to do with it.

No.

Revelation 9:14-16

And the voice said to the sixth angel who held the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great Euphrates River.” Then the four angels who had been prepared for this hour and day and month and year were turned loose to kill one-third of all the people on earth. I heard the size of their army, which was 200 million mounted troops.

Totally possible! I don't know about the burring the bodies thing though because there is always cremation. But I could totally see it happening, we're already so overpopulated as it is. I believe the human kind is a type of virus though. We go somewhere, thrive on it's life source, spread and eventually destroy everything and die ourselves because we have nothing left. .. Think about it, we just keep having baby's, even with so many children without homes.. we find new animals to eat, new ways to pollute our air, new ways to waste our water.. even now the biggest problem is the chemicals they are putting in EVERYTHING just to see what they can preserve and use over and over.. don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of recycling, but recycling our sewage?? RAW sewage?? Did you hear about that?! Now I don't know about you, but I don't think theres any chemicals that could make me drink my own .. stuff. What about you?
See, now that may be morbid when put that way lol but it's just my personal opinion. ;)

In other parts of the world overpopulation is already a very real, very serious problem. China had to institute a One-child policy in the seventies to curb their population growth and even then they are still horribly impoverished and overpopulated. Seeing as Americans consume more resources than anywhere else it isn't unreasonable to assume we'll catch up.

2007-12-17 03:39:22 · answer #9 · answered by Anonymous · 0 0

It is possible. And it is happening now. I can see you are not educated on this subject and maybe you should do some research before asking an idiotic and ignorant question like you have. I would be willing to bet you are American. And because of that, I would like to just let you know... if EVERYONE in this world had an ecological footprint as big as yours, it would take 3-4 Earths to support our current population with resources. EDUCATE YOURSELF.
