The Big Bertha, a very heavy artillery piece firing a huge shell, was used in World War One. I don't know if it was used in WWII. The German name was Dicke Berta, meaning Fat Bertha. Edit: the Big Bertha fired a shell 42 centimeters in diameter. That's about 16.5 inches!
I think Bertha was the wife of arms manufacturer Alfred Krupp. Apparently she was a woman of generous proportions.

go to either google or wikidpedia and type in the names of the weapons in question, that will give your more information than you can shake a memory card at. Id advise wikipedia,, they have more info and more external links and answer more of the questions in the subject matter
