the way people are always overhyping heaven like it's the greatest thing since sliced bread makes me think of all the other things in my life that have been promised to be great and then never live up to the hype. we've all had experiences like this. think about maybe a movie you've seen that was built up to be the greatest movie to ever come out of hollywood, then you go watch it and it sucks. then there are things which we're told totally suck, you go and check it out and it turns out a lot better than some people gave it credit for being. these are things which were overhyped by living people who experienced them first hand, and it happens all the time. so why should i think heaven and hell are any different? first off, no living person has seen heaven or hell, so nobody can really make a fair assessment of either if either exists. secondly, why, if based on past overhypings should i trust anyone's opinion but my own?

Yes, it is, but you seem to be exaggerating it.

The fact is that Heaven isn't really detailed in the bible. There are a few verses that talk about dinner tables and prepared mansions, and others in Revelations that describe angels and cheribum. But the only description of humans up there are of them praising God....

Eternity is a LONG time, and I am confused why people are willing to give up their tangible earthly lives, trying to obtain eternal life in a place they know little to nothing about?

Eternal life would eventually turn into a listless meaningless existence, Heaven and Hell would end up creating the same result.

Well, different people have different tastes, so you should only experience things on your own. True, no living being as seen heaven or hell, but believe me or not, they do exist. People don't overhype about heaven.

Things are overhyped because people want to be the one to know and tell others about it (the better it is the cooler they are for finding it out), if someone has a vested interest in selling something they will overhype it

because if there is a heaven, then by it's very definition it IS all that and a bag of chips, but then again if you are worried about wich place to go to: you only have one chance. wouldn't you put more confidence in something that has a 95% approval rating? then again ... either may not live up to it's hype, so ask yourself: would I rather be a little less pleased with heaven or suffer a little less agonizing eternity in hell?

It does seem like human nature to overhype things, and I suspect that heaven (if it does in fact exist) is probably no different.

i don't know if you should not trust ANYONE'S opinion, but i believe that you shouldn't believe EVERYTHING you hear. in the Wicca religion heaven and hell are the same. i am a Wicca but i was once a christian and i now believe that people hype heaven and hell so that they are not scared of dying. Because they "believe" in heaven or hell they have something to look forward after death.

It all boils down to money...hype something up, get everyone exited about it then reveal it for what it was in the first place, a pile of dogs doo! But of course by that time its too late, you have either paid out or been brainwashed into thinking it was/is brilliant.
