Ok, I'm a computer tech and I'm sure that has helped me, but I have been running Vista since it first came out, and have had not one problem with it.
Yes, it is a bit resource hungry, and there are a few features that need to be turned off, but other then that I have had hardware or software problems, and Vista is fast and secure. I have three systems running at all times. Two are Vista and one is XP. All are kept up to date. The XP machine is much slower then are either of the Vista machines. These are not small computers. All are duel core and have plenty of ram installed.
Now I hear that the upcoming service pack, (SP3), is supposed to speed XP up quite a bit, and maybe even make it faster then Vista. On this we will have to wait and see. This service pack is supposed to become available the first quater of next year.
For those who say that Vista isn't as user friendly as is XP, all I can say is that they haven't learned to use the software because it is "very" user friendly.
One last thing. Vista set up and runs my network way better then XP ever did.
Don't know what else to say. Vista is the OS of the future and we all might just as well get used to it.

"Vista Sucks" is a bit harsh. I will say this. Vista was ill-conceived. It was not ready for release when it was sent out. IT has more bugs then the release of Xp. People see that as a step backwards in Microsoft's direction so they attack Vista. I tend to agree that it is not the direction that Microsoft wanted to take Vista, but I think that the programing is less to blame and more of the Pr reps that pushed for the early release.
Is it really that bad? Not really.
I have used Vista for 10 weeks an I recently went beck to Xp pro. But i did save my install DVD, and once they get service pack one out and tested I may go back to Vista (depending on the new Xp service pack 3)
You are getting Vista, its not a bad OS, btu there are better ones out there.
I would suggest you visit this site though: http://www.tweakhound.com/vista/tweakguide/index.htm
Also I think that the min system requirements for Vista were under stated. I would suggest 2 gb of ram min (4 would be much better, but I doubt you got that) a dual core at least 1.4 ghtz and a decent graphics card. It you have all that then your set. The ram is the biggest killer of Vista and you can cut it down but it takes time and it will never be as efficient as Xp and I think that is what people hate the most.

If you bought a new computer with Vista as the operating system, you just need to take the time to learn it. You had to do that with XP, or whatever OS you had before this one. ALL new operating systems suck when they first come out, but Vista has been around almost a year now, and if you get all the updates, you shouldn't have a problem.
The people (I use the term loosely) on YouTube are immature, childish and uninformed. Learn your new computer and forget about what some ignoramus on YouTube has to say about it.

There are a lot of reasons. It is not as user-friendly as anything else on the market, to begin with. A lot of old software and hardware does not work right with it, and people do not want to have to replace all their games and printers and such. It adds up. It has a lot of bugs, too, though that will likely be fixed eventually. All-in-all, however, I think the big thing is this: people are sick of Microsoft changing everything ever few years. It gets expensive having to update everything all the time. Simply put- they should not have to. There was nothing wrong with XP. I, for one, am getting a Mac when my current computer is finished. I'm not doing the Microsoft Vista thing.

Like all commercial software, when first released, version 1 usually has a multitude of issues. For this reason, anyone technical will tell you it sucks as it is usually better to wait for the next release when most of the teething problems are dealt with.
Specifically, Vista is memory hungry, has a tendancy to crash and some very common software does not yet work with it. Add that to the ridiculous level of personal security MS have added and you have a sucky operating system. Dont worry, it is not the first time MS have released a bad OS and definitely will not be the last!!!

One of the biggest problems is with the "security" features. They are a major pain, but can be shut off (and then it hounds you to turn them back on). I am still waiting on the driver for my printer to be Vista compatible (not totally Microsoft's fault, I realize that). I have had my Internet crash an insane amount of times with it. I think a lot of it is just adjusting to the change, but I have had it for over a year and still absolutely hate it. I would rather have Windows 3.1 back than have Vista.
Most of the people who like it are ones who just take standard settings and use those. If you change anything (beyond screen saver and desktop), Vista hides some things from you, but they can all be found and gotten around, but it takes some time if you are just trying to wing it off what you know of XP.

I bought a new computer a few months ago and I had it configured with XP simply because I have an old printer and scanner and a very old copy of Photoshop, all of which fill my needs perfectly, and I was told that I wouldn't be able to get drivers for these older items if I went with Vista. That's the only negative thing I heard about Vista that affected my decision.

generally:
1. Use a lot of memory for fancy things without helping improve computer performance.
2. Many softwares are still not compatible with the system.
3. Mess up the control panel and desktop properties.
4. There are too many versions and that confused people; who "want" a basic version?
5. Have protection function that won't let you use illegal softwares; huge down side.
6. look cool doesn't mean effective; it could distract your vision.
7. Basically, it is a upgraded XP and got painted outside so Bill Gates can get some more money.
.....more......

Vista just has ISSUES with everything. It spies on you(Oh yes there are applications in vista that keep a record of everything you do), it is memory hungry, it is slower than previous versions of windows, it is full of bugs and glitches. There is a countless list of things wrong with it.
It is also way harder to fix a problem in vista than in XP.
Everybody with some knowledge of computers knows vista is a little screwed up!

My son bought a new Laptop a few months ago with Vista on it and likes it. People always say that the new OS's suck when they first come out. I remember that with every OS since Windows 3.0 with the exception of Windows ME ( ME really does suck for an OS ). In time the tide will change for Vista....
