I don't know and quite honestly I don't care.
The thought that we are producing children to bring them out of our "nether regions" is laughable. I wonder where that one came from.
And we're not just an American sect. There are 13 million members worldwide with only about 6 million in the US.

Not a chance.
Mormonism's growth is slowing down. The Internet has really taken a toll on the number of converts coming into the Mormon Church; also, the majority of people who do join either go inactive nearly immediately or have mental problems and don't exactly represent the rock on which the future of Mormonism shall be built.

According to the rate that it is growing now, in 80 years Mormonism and Islam will be the two largest World Religions.*
This is one of the main reasons most evangelicals are fearful of Mormons; their staggering growth rate. Hence this recent call by Evangelical scholars for a more robust arguement against Mormon theology.

Interesting times when Mormons will be a majority, eh?

No Catholicism has been around so long, and with members not using birth control the number continue to rise rapidly. Although the LDS religion is number 4 in the US and one of the fastest growing, I think the gap is too big.

I am catholic,I hate the Vatican, And for the life of me, I can't figure out why other "Catholics" call mormonism a cult. If you believe in the Donut Deity, that is your religion. I don't care.
Judge not lest ye be judged, Oovey.
To answer your question, no. there are a lot of catholics.

Now that I think about it, you might be right. Catholics are definitely losing members and LDS members are growing every day. Being a Jew, I feel more of a kinship with them because of their persecution and beliefs similar to ours than I do with the Catholics who have not treated my people kindly over the centuries.

Its a matter of procreation..
Right now they are neck and neck.
The Catholics outlawed condoms to give them the edge, but then the Mormons countered with the belief that bearing children released souls out of the listless nether regions and brought them into this world to one day become Gods.
They are both doing all they can to increase indoctrinated populations.

probably not simply because the Catholic church is much wider spread. a lot of other countries have huge Catholic populations. i'm not sure that Mormonism has spread much beyond the US.
