My honey has a tattoo on her calf and in the winter it gets all hard and red. I have been putting some moisturizer on it. Anyone else experience this problem? Normally she doesn't treat the tat differently than the rest of her skin except when she wears a skirt. Then she puts baby oil on it to shine and accentuate it. 1.-Any suggestions for winter tat problems? 2.-Does anyone else shine their tat to accentuate it?

I believe the redness and hardness are just a common winter thing from cold weather.

To Skaizun in relation to my "honey" that's what I call her. Why do you ridicule that? As far as what I concern myself with, you don't know me or the extent of my relationship with my "honey". I actually do concern myself with other things but being that this is a tattoo based Q and A I asked it here. By the way my "honey" thanks you for your concern.

I think you are one of the few men in the world worthy of being called a good boyfriend or sweetheart.
It's so unique and amazing that you're worried for her well-being, and are doing this for her.

While I'm not extremely sure what is safe for a healed tattoo or not, I believe that all Lubriderm products are okay for tattooed skin. Try buying a little pot of extremely thick body butter. Some of the best are found at The Body Shop (Cocoa Butter) for $25 dollars, or even Vaseline Winter Renewal Repair Butter at your local drugstore for $5. Regularly massage the moisturizer into your skin, and keep it moisturized.

If you want her ink to grab everyone's attention, try using a shimmer lotion, or shimmery body butter. Not only will it make it soft and smooth, but it'll reflect light and dazzle!

Last but not least, if you really want to jazz it up, you can trace parts of her tattoo with a bold&sparkly waterproof liquid liner. This will definitively be the icing on the cake, and you can even stick on rhinestones with special glue.

I hope you get all the answers&help you need, and congrads to your sweetheart for finding such an amazing man!

I have a similar problem with the tat on my back in the winter. The dry air really does a number on it and sometimes it gets puffy. It also happens when the skin there is rubbed or irritated for an extended period of time, like if uncomfy clothes rub against it all day. Lotion usually helps me if I remember to apply it often enough.

I don't understand the hard and red. If it extends from the body it means the artist went to deep.
Other than that I suggest moisturizer Morning and Night.

I stay out of the sun. If I have to I use the highest block and out the entire tattoo. Literally just outline the whole thing.

I've kept yellow in mine and that's due to no sun and block

hmm well i dont really have that problem, but my body takes the ink pretty well, there are never any strange reactions and it heals up faster then the average.

but i have heard of ppl who have bodies that reject ink and stuff.

maybe she has that kinda sensitive skin.

try to keep it moisturized. the cold probably really dries it up and thats why it gets stiff.

is it a new tattoo? i heard that after about 6 months or so, the tattoo is at it's final stage and is not just ink under ur skin, it is absorbed INTO the skin and is now part of it.

so if its reletivly new then u might wanna wait a little bit and see if it doesnt just cure itself.

I use Palmers Coco Butter twice a day (in the morning and again at night) on all 19 of mine and they look new 24 hours a day year round.

The coco butter makes them look fantastic and can extend the life of the tattoo as it acts as a natural sunscreen so you don't have to worry about remember to use sunscreen when in sunlight for extended periods of time..

Dream Cream from LUSH. A load of oat milk with lavender oil, rose oil, and cocoa butter. It smells like white chocolate and lavender and is super soothing/shining for tattoos. All 28 of mine love it!

that's weird, i've never had that problem with me.
just keep putting lubiderm unscented lotion on it, the redness & itchyness will go away.
if it starts to fade, you should have her go to the artist and ask her why it's been so irritated, and maybe she should get it touched up a little bit so it look's better!

that feels like a classic therapeutic tattoo to me. you will see that the scab is coming off clearly (9 days is approximately precise, mine are oftentimes much less) and below is the "silver dermis" this is the terrific point of the straight forward therapeutic technique. do not think of it extremely is a topic in any respect.

No, sorry, but I haven't had an experience with your "honey's" "hard and red" tattoo. But, why are you so concerned about the tat? Maybe you should concentrate more on the area above her neck?
