***Deb W*** "I know what exists"

I love that answer...does that mean australopithicus africanus isn't real because it doesn't exist???

200 years ago atoms couldn't be seen...according to the above logic...atoms didn't exist...

Truth is that which you have the resolve to find regardless of the end result and whether you agree with it or not...

May I say, you ask a very, very difficult question. Philosophers have battled over this for years and still don't have an answer, almost everyone has a different concept of what truth is.

Truth is, to me, what is proven to me. It is pure, it is meaning, it is rare and it is important.

All those words are vague, because my belief in truth is vague--I question what truth is, what reality is, and what my soul is. Some people will say there is no truth! Some will say truth is objective, some will say it's subjective. I'm not sure which it is, myself, but it's fun trying to find out.

Freedom from false teachings...Ecclesiastes 9:5-6.......What the Bible teaches about the condition of the dead is comforting. the dead do not suffer pain or heartache. There is no reason to be afraid of them, for they cannot harm us. They do not need our help, and they cannot help us. We cannot speak with them, and they cannot speak with us. Many religious leaders falsely claim that they can help those who have died, and people who believe such leaders give them money. But knowing the truth protects us from being deceived by those who teach such lies..

Ecclesiastes 9:5-6..For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun.

Truth is belief supported by measurable evidence.

The "Jesus is Truth" answers are only opinions, they cannot claim it as truth, because it isn't measurable or supportable with logic or evidence.

I feel like Spaghetti is the best comfort food, but that doesn't mean that my statement is truth, its just my opinion, same goes for the many flavors of religion.

Edit -

kirkill "Macro Evolution has been scientifically disproved?" You used a lie in your description of truth.....This is why religion is so dangerous.

Sorry, that question requires faith. People even have faith in macro evolution, even though it's been scientifically disproved.

You'll have to examine the world around you to find out what's true, and as the skeptic's most sacred saying goes, "what's true for you may not be true for others".

Can you see the wind? No, but you can see the effects of the wind.

Can you see God? No, but I can see the effects of God.

If you define truth as the word of god, no need to continue this discussion. You win everything. Congratulations!

If you have the ability to see more than black and white, you are on a good path to enlightenment and continued growth in your life. You will never find the truth, that is, the ultimate question to life, the universe, and everything. However, you can live a happy life and enjoy the time in between birth and death.

True spirituality is finding harmony with one's self. Why would one look to external sources for true happiness and spiritual development?

Being honest to other people means beinig honest to myself. I don't think I could live with telling some one a lie. that lie would be hurting me more than the person I was dishonest with. So I would then being telling myself a lie by saying, I didn't lie??? When would this end??? LOL

the best information available at a given time. and as such, it's always open to change if new, better information presents itself.

for questions that are not completely answerable in a literal way, i rely on my gut instinct. and the basis of my gut instinct is that if a "truth" pushes emotional buttons or tries to deflect a search for further information, it is not to be trusted.
