Hello.... I bought a Sony A100 DSLR camera for my wife for Christmas. I am sure the manual is pretty extensive, but I was wondering if anyone knew of any good online courses or classroom courses in the Chicagoland area that I could enroll her in to help her get acclimated with using a DSLR camera. All of her photo experience has been with point and shoot cameras.

Sorry but I'm not familiar with what might be available in Chicago. However, The New York Institute of Photography (nyip.com) offers correspondence courses. They've been in business since 1910 so they're reputable.

Good luck & Merry Christmas.

I have working DSLR cameras around the lab here that are 7 years old. These are not throw-away cameras, although there are a few that die an untimely death. Stuff happens. If you take care of the camera, as mentioned by several posters already, that A100 will last many years. It is also a damn fine camera to begin with, your Uncle gave you quite a gift.
