I cleaned our bathrooms and let the bleach sit on the surfaces for about 10mins, like I usually do, and now an hour so later, I feel nauseous.
I use bleach for because of sanitary reasons.
Both area's were well ventilated, but now, when I go outside to get a breath of fresh air, I have like this burning sensation in my nose and now feeling sick.
Your opinions?
Don't say, don't use bleach anymore. I use other products at different times.

The product that I am using is a bathroom cleaner with bleach.
I don't use that much, just wet the surface and walk away.

Even well ventilated ares can still have a high concentration of bleach vapors which is still to high for human to breath try using a surgical mask when cleaning or water down the bleach at a 50/50 ration withing water only, never mix any other chemicals with bleach it may kill you okay happy holidays and be safe for you r kids and hubby

Do your research on bleach and you wouldn't ever use it again - it is a cancer causing chemical thast not only destroys our bodies but our environment as well - an MSDS sheet states that if you were to use bleach at a job site you would be required to wear a full body suit with ventilator mask - this is deadly stuff and please keep away from anything with ammonia in it, as this mixture will produce a deadly gas!! You are feeling the effects of bleach poisoning - find other, safer alternatives to use. You probably inhaled too much bleach vapor. Since the bleach has been removed your symptoms should go away. Do you dilute the bleach? For household cleaning a 1 in 10 solution is recommended.

In science labs that require bacteria-free surfaces the favored solution for routine cleaning is actually 70% ethanol (that's basically what's in those hand sanitizing gels). Isopropanol solutions (stuff like Windex) or those containing benzalkonium chloride will work as well and aren't as irritating. Bleach is great for killing and detaching mildew but is kind of like burning your leaves with a napalm flamethrower if you're trying to kill bacteria. If you like using bleach because you know it's clean when you're done by all means keep it up, but maybe do the bathroom in sections or go outside while it's sitting.

When used properly diluted bleach is a safe household disinfectant. The MSDS for the bottle of water I have in the next room says I should wear a lab coat, gloves, and goggles while using it. God forbid I should get the water in my eyes and have to wash it out with . . . water. MSDS's assume the worst. Concentrated bleach is very dangerous, and even dilute bleach is dangerous if you're working with vats of it, but 10% bleach in small volumes should not pose a threat as long as you don't breathe the vapors for too long, bathe in it, squirt it in your eyes (ow!), or swallow it (makes you throw up :-( ).

ok, so someone just cleaned my office with what smells like an abundance of blach. My office is spacious, but closed from outside ventilation. My eyes burn a little, and my the smell is in my nose. Can this be harmful? I opened the front door to air it out.
