Sure it does, you use the memory for game saves and downloaded demos etc. I have the 60GB version and 48GB is free so 40GB should be fine.

I was told to get the higher one 80gb, which I did for x-mas.
More money, but probably worth it in the end.

unless you plan on downloading tons of movies and videos then 40g should be enough for all your games.
