I have. The nursing home where I have worked for 5 years has decided that they are not paying us until 9:00am Christmas Eve and that we must attend a mandatory meeting that morning. I work the night before and that night from 10:00pm-6:00am. They however get their checks direct deposit and we cannot. It is the first time they have paid us on Christmas Eve and it is well known that our checks are in well before. Who has been the grinch for you this year?

Yep. I was in a local department store and my children were singing with one of the electronic displays that sang Christmas songs. They were not being loud but singing softly with the music and so was I. There were several other children doing the same thing near us.
Along came Geezer Grinch and with a raised voice said "can you not keep your brats quiet, this is a public store." Which in turn, - since I am the Queen of the one liners - I said to his wife "Hey lady, can you keep your Geezer quiet, this IS a public store ya' know." which everyone with in ear shot chuckled. But all in all, I have been very lucky because many people have been very nice and have even come up to my car in parking lots saying that if I wanted their space they are leaving or even holding doors for eachother ect. Sorry they are making you wait on your checks, but the answerers before are right, it is unfair and they can not withhold a scheduled payment without legal cause to do so, such as theft or padding timesheets. I would put my foot down and demand the reason for holding pay - legally they must tell you in writing why they are withholding your paychecks and it has to be due to a criminal act or non payment of services accrued through the company you work for. Hope you get a day off soon.
Blessed be and Peace

Not nearly as bad as you have, but there's a guy at work that came in the other day while we had Christmas music playing and said that it was bothering him and that he didn't like it. I have a pretty good relationship with him and told him, "Sorry Mr. Grinch." We both laughed but I could tell he was serious. He went on to say that it seems like you can't turn on the radio without hearing 24 hour Christmas music. I told him that it would only last a little while longer and until then he could always turn it over to an AM station since it's always talk radio. He said he'd rather blow his head off than listen to Rush (Limbaugh). We talked for about 30 minutes while the music played then for another 45 minutes after the CD stopped. We laughed about several things and had some serious conversation as well, but he knew I wasn't going to turn off the Christmas music, and it wasn't even very loud (I could barely hear it.)
Sorry you have a REAL Grinch. :(

That happened at my office a few years ago. Our payroll company screwed up. back then, we never knew when our checks would get here because we were on a twice monthly system instead of every other week. (A small but serious distinction in the world of payroll.) Anyway, we were told we would be paid a few days before Christmas and the payroll company screwed up and it didn't come until after the last weekend before Christmas. I think it may have been Christmas Eve EVE, or somesuch. Anyway, such hell was raised over it that they changed the payroll system so we knew when payday was every time. BIG improvement.
I watched a little old lady pitch a fit in the craft store on Saturday, screaming that she needed her hunter green yarn that they were out of because she was half-way through the damned quilt. It was pretty funny to watch... since I didn't work there.
My dear retail customers: as you shop this Christmas season, please ask yourselves "WWJD" before being mean to some overtired minimum wage worker.

Debra, this is a legal issue for sure. I worked in a nursing home to put myself through school, they are infamous for trying this kind of thing!
The Grinch for me was the private school that we paid $$$ to keep our sons in. My youngest is autistic, and they decided he wasn't worth dealing with. So we had to abruptly move out of our house, which I loved, and buy another in a good public school district. But, praise God, the new school seems to be wonderful--and no tuition. I still miss the old house, but this situation is better for both my boys.
I hope your situation gets resolved before Christmas Eve. Peace to you, my sister.

I work in a voter reg. office and, not everyone but most, old women have been so rude this Holiday season! This one hung up on me after she called me an idiot b/c she doesn't understand how we use computers for everything. It was like she had a vendetta against technology...lol...anyways...it was sort of interesting but I swear they're out for blood! Good luck w/your issue! Hope it gets better for you! : )
And Merry Christmas since apparently the people around us will not be saying it to us! ; )

I comprehend Scrooge exceptionally good. i know how he concept before the spirits visited him and now i'm in simple terms like Scrooge after the visits, a great number of nutrition and promises for all of us. That brings exhilaration to the international. Being Grinch-like does not do all and assorted any good. As for Santa, i ask your self what he smokes in that pipe to be waiting to fly like that and my well being care provider would be after me to lose some weight.

I'm also SO SICK of the "War on Christmas" crap, I can weep. Tell me I'm anti-Christmas when I'm not baking and buying gifts and restoring peoples' furniture for their celebrations, okay?

yes my dear...I have worked many nursing homes over the years...the holiday season is the strangest...""must keep the residents happy but screw you??"for the employees....
what I hated was the families giving their "family member" a gift of perfume or after shave stuff...ALL the residents are reeking of smell!!!! and the staff needs the O2 mask just to get around!!
we would be sticking our heads outside any door we could find for a breath...even the porta/ potty room smelled good....hahah!!
we got $10 gift cards for macdonalds one year...I am vegitarian...

Wow! Sucks. I hate that kind of stuff.
Be gracious - it will show them what they need to see.
Pray about it, ask God to help you. He will.
