my friend needs to know true signs of how to tell a "guy friend" is interested in her. it is her best friend

My friend (really, it is a friend)....she lives with 4 other people, which includes a best guy friend. she and the best guy friend are inseperable. they watch movies every night, go to dinner, etc. he hugs her, has lunch w/ her, it's almost "dating" without the sex and kissing.

Are there any sure-tell ways to find out if he is truly interested in her? She doesn't want to ruin the friendship or scare him (as they live together, etc). They are both single.

If she is interested in him, then the surest way is to tell him how she feels. Scary, yes. Not easy, yes. But it's better than never making the effort and wondering "what if" the rest of your life.
