People say that you should take multi-vitamins if you are on a diet. But what if I already eat a lot of vegetables and fruits and a decent amount of meat? Would I still need to take multi-vitamins? I eat A LOT of fruit, so I'm afraid that I will have an overdose of vitamins if I take a multivitamin.

Thanks!

If you are already eating a balanced diet I would suggest avoiding a multivitamin. The majority of vitamins and minerals are water soluble making and excess eliminated through urine. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat soluble making any excess transported to the liver, if the body cannot use it it is eventually stored as fat. If you do choose a multivitamin make sure you choose one that does not exceed your recommended daily value in each vitamin. The only thing women need more than the DV is iron. Women traditionally have low levels of iron and menstruation drops these levels even lower. Iron is responsible for developing hemoglobin or red blood cells, they are used to transport oxygen to your body tissues. A lack of iron can result in anemia. Hope this helps, feel free to email with any further questions.

It is still recommended. No where do you say you drink milk- are you getting enough calcium? How about B vitamins? Vitamin D? Unless you are tracking how much of each you are getting, then probably you should. Yeah, you do have a good diet, but it is usually still recommended. If you are worried about OD'ing on something (which the ones you would be OD'ing on would just flush through your system anyways), you could just take the specific ones that you are short in your diet instead of a multi vitamin.

YES! You should always take a multi-vitamin regardless of what your eating because you don't always get everything you need from your foods.

I would not if I were you. You sound pretty sure of yourself. That you are eating right. Happy Holidays.
