How do I convert an open office document to a word document after saving it to word?

In open office, FILE / SAVE AS and set file type to a .DOC (word ) file
then simply OPEN it in Word

What do you mean "after saving it to word"?

In OpenOffice, you can choose the format you want to save in from the Save As... dialog box.
