The bible actually gives you rules on how to treat your slaves. It was regular practice back then. Heck, even the much loved Moses made it a habit of taking slaves. He even went so far as to check all the women in a city to see if they were virgins or not... he slaughtered every girl who was not and kept the 16,000 virgins as slave gifts for his priests and generals.

Leviticus 25:44-46 addressing Moses' people "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property.
You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly."

When was it denounced? Only when it was done to the Israelites. In Leviticus 25:42 "Because the Israelites are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt, they must not be sold as slaves." So much for a just and fair god.

In the New Testaments as well there are instructions on how to treat slaves as some answerers here has already pointed out, therefore it was still not denounced at that time.

The old testament gives rules on how to treat your slaves, but none of the chief Rabbis condone its use in modern times, neither does Christianity condone it because Jesus was said to be the fulfilment of the law, it is clear he did not condone Slavery.

Islam does condone slavery, the Qur'an is meant to never change and it clearly states that slavery is allowed in Islam.

slavery is part of human nature, and has been going on forever. When the bible was written, slaves were commonplace & socially acceptable. So it probably doesn't denounce it because it was the norm in they days. But then you have to remember the bible also says homosexuals are evil & witches should be burned at the stake, so the bible is more than a little outdated.
What is important about the bible is the morals set out in it, rather than a word-for-word translation.

Religion is all about volunteering to become slaves. In Islam, they even call themselves slaves. Why would the bible denounce the very thing that it wants to create?

Yes, it is condoned in the Bible. But churches do ignore some parts of it so they can use other parts that fulfill their hatred. The Bible was used to validate slavery in Civil War times, and segregation. Now we use it to treat those dirty dirty homosexuals badly!

Does this style of sturdy fact enable us to (if we had slaves who have been brothers and sisters) to be merciless to those? never. besides the undeniable fact that, cruelty in this international abounds - a minimum of 80 5,000 Iraquies have been killed the previous couple of years - how evil develop into Hussein? quite evil, of course. yet, might he have killed this lots of his very own u . s . adult men - maximum no longer likely. This international desires to be finished away with in Armageddon, and that's going to be. nevertheless, there continues to be some prophecies to be fulfilled - and the great Tribulation we are beginning up will probable get a sprint worse in the previous that hits the fan. So, attempt to be smart little miow individual. seem at issues no longer in view which you do unlike a be conscious yet additionally seem at how issues are at present - residences foreclosed and left empty with those hardworking people thrown out - and the fat bankers getting fatter. those grasping people should pass to hell - regrettably, all they're going to get is oblivion.

War, poverty, and crime were the basic factors that reduced persons to a state of servitude. Captives of war were often constituted slaves by their captors or were sold into slavery by them. (Compare 2Ki 5:2; Joe 3:6.) In Israelite society a person who became poor could sell himself or his children into slavery to care for his indebtedness. (Ex 21:7; Le 25:39, 47; 2Ki 4:1) One guilty of thievery but unable to make compensation was sold for the things he stole, evidently regaining his freedom at the time all claims against him were cared for.—Ex 22:3.

At times slaves held a position of great trust and honor in a household. The patriarch Abraham’s aged servant (likely Eliezer) managed all of his master’s possessions. (Ge 24:2; 15:2, 3) Abraham’s descendant Joseph, as a slave in Egypt, came to be in charge of everything belonging to Potiphar, a court official of Pharaoh. (Ge 39:1, 5, 6) In Israel, there was a possibility of a slave’s becoming wealthy and redeeming himself.—Le 25:49.

The bible provided rules for slaves (obey your masters). Therefore, the bible not only missed an opportunity to set right a wrong, but also provided rules for the wronged. If you provide rules for something, yet don't take the time to prohibit "it", you are, ipso facto, endorsing it.
