I think we can understand each other better if we know this.... mine is anything that does harm... to others or to yourself.
The price of sin is nothing. I don't believe in Karma or in an supernatural sin tallyer. I don't think people should sin, but I don't think there's a price paid for it. (Outside of a country's laws for certain "sins")

Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law

To me, a "sin" is anything which goes against your own True Will, or the Will of another. The consequences of not doing your Will are unhappiness, being unfulfilled, not living up to your true potential, spiritual slavery. "The word of sin is restriction." Liber Al I 41 http://www.sacred-texts.com/oto/engccxx.htm -- that is, anything that restricts the Will.

Now, the word "sin" gets used so often, and for so many ridiculous and arbitrary things to be rendered useless and without meaning. Anything that offends, confuses, or goes against the teachings of a particular religion is a sin. And it gets pretty silly. When I was a kid, a Catholic child told me I would go to Hell for eating a beef jerky on Friday. If you're going to be that fast and loose with your definition of what a sin is, how can you expect anyone to take it seriously. That is why I don't believe in sin at all in the Christian sense.

Love is the law, love under Will.

My definition of sin would be to do anything that would hurt someone I loved. So for example if I ever cheated on my husband that would be a sin, but unlike you I do believe in karma and what goes around comes around.
My price paid for sinning would be guilt I guess but I would hope I had enough brains to learn from the experience and not do it again, or at least think about it beforehand.

According to my belief system it is 'Do as you will, lest it hurt none'. pretty much do what you want, but if it is going to hurt somebody physically, emotionally, or mentally, you simply DON'T DO IT. This includes yourself as well. To 'sin' would be to do something knowing you are going to hurt somebody. I also believe in reincarnation, and each lifetime is a learning process. Therefor the punishment for 'sinning' is having to repeat this life lesson over again. It is also understood people make mistakes and if one, after the fact, feels truly sorry for their deed, then all can be forgiven if the 'sin' is not repeated. The laws of the land are set by people, punishment is set by people, but ones actions are governed by each individual with the knowledge that God/Goddess are watching.

Sin is anything that is intentionally harmful to another. Lying to gain something that you do not deserve or wouldn't get through honest means, cheating, stealing and assaulting or battering an innocent party are all examples of what I would define as sin.

As a Pagan I am a firm believer in Karma and the rule of three; "That which you do comes back to you three-fold."

In Christianity, they have something similar; "That which you sow, so shall you reap"

For non- religious types there is one of my personal favorites; "It's all on the wheel. It all comes around"

So I do believe that what goes around comes around.

As a Christian, sin is any trespass against God. All listed throughout the Bible, specifically the New Testament. It so much more than the (10) commandments, it includes ethical, moral laws that outline how to be a dedicated employee, wife, husband, daughter, son, deacon, etc. The price of sin is eternal damnation in Hell. If you're not with God, you are against Him. My thoughts as a Christian believer.

I believe the technical definition is as stated above, disobedience to god. A broader perspective is more like disobedience to whatever deity you follow. Another definition might be, for those that don't follow a deity would be an act or thought that runs against the morals of the society in which one lives.

"Sin", to me, is anything purposely done to do harm. I do believe in Karma. It is a natural rebound effect of the universe.

I follow a "modern" Pagan path and believe completely that "Love is the whole of the law." and follow as best as I can, The Four Agreements....

Sin is deliberately doing something that separates you from the love of God. It is something that you choose to do. Separation from God is described as death. Life/death is a very important metaphor like light/dark. I also don't go with the idea of some sort of tally being made. You have either separated yourself from God or you are at one with God. There is no in between.

The price of sin is what the sinner recieves for the action, often time it's a hard learned lesson of recoil. In the end it is neccesary for negative actions to promote positve means.
