His purpose was to stop the great sinning that was happening on the earth. The bible says men in those days thought ONLY evil thoughts.
As long as we have flesh we will sin, he knows this.

God?

Why do you think the flood was caused by God and not by Nature. Then some ancients decided that their local deity did it. And the story of the Sumerian flood travelled to Babylon and finally into the book of Moses. You need to go read up on the Mesopotainian flood myths - written down long before your god was inveneted. Nahmizuli was the hero - similar to hebrew for noah - Nhm and his ark came to rest on Mt Ararat too.

Plagarism at it's best - see a good story - recyle it- rebrand it.

Which god?

It wasn't to remove sin , but rather a punishment on the fallen angels and their offspring. God sent the flood after their generations for the corruption of women and making of an evil people.

For a supposedly omniscient and omnipotent god, she sure did fail several times, and had to wipe out her entire creation to try again. For some reason, christians can both talk about her failures and at the same time rationalize that they were successes in disguise.

Because the flood story in the bible is a parable, there never was a flood that covered the whole of the earth.

Because the generation that existed before the flood was a lot more evil than the ones now, thank God for that. He succeeded in wiping out the evil peoples at that time, nowadays people are sinful, but not as sinful as the ones before that flood.

He succeeded in removing the sin of that civilization that perished...remember we're only talking about a single pagan society and one Jewish man whom God wanted to spare because of his destiny and the women his son's married (not all Jewish) in that story...it doesn't mention the fate of gentiles (non-Jewish) elsewhere on the planet...

We are of sin, and the only way to cleanse us of our sinful nature is by Jesus Christ. He was the ultimate sacrifice, and cleanser of sin that succeeded. Before Him, the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, the animal sacrifices, all were failures, because the next generation was another sinful nation.

He succeeded for a time. Now the earth is worse than ever in sin and there will be another punishment for these sins.

The stray dna that was different from the circled dna of Adam, was what was destroyed.Noah was perfect in his genetic make-up and therefore saved alive. The women of the ark had their dna from adam as he was in a deep sleep trance when God took it to create Eve.
