what do passengers get in airline accidents?

So when we hear about planes skidding off runways, what do the passengers on the plane usually get after that happens? Free air travel for life?

Personally, I would see it was a mistake, and prolly won't happen again.
Anyway, Why would they get free flights? They lost 150 Bill worth of plane, and then add 50mill of free tickets? Thats a horrible plan.
They get Medical attention and 2000 dollars I'd guess -.-
