How can they NOT expect negativity to come back to them?

I often see some Christian questions like: "Why do atheists attack Christianity?"

Isn't cause and effect a reality in their worldview? Or is their entire worldview so encapsulated by religious superstition that simple cause and effect becomes 'prophecy' to them?

Christians, Muslims, what do you think?

"problem" thanks for supporting my 'right' not to believe. But what about the question I asked?

Hasse_John:

No, that doesn;t cover my question. I'm fully aware that those scriptures slander atheists. My question is, do Christians and Muslims believe in cause and effect? i.e. Don't they see how slandering others for not believing in their religions provokes negative responses?

That's the key issue on this forum. The religious believers expect to be able to demonize atheists with no response from atheists. They assume this because of course out in pop culture that's what happens, because religious belief is unquestioned. But this is a public forum where everyone can weigh in, and so we have atheists defending themselves.

Believers had better learn to live with it.
I see that a couple of them here have figured this out - my hat is off to you guys. Thanks.

I USED to view atheists as "bad people" only because I didn't know any better. I had never known an atheist and had no idea what atheism really is. I would say that most people are just like I was.

You are absolutely correct. No one should be allowed or have the so called 'right' to slander another religion or group of people with their own ideas of faith, belief and God.

It is strictly forbidden in Islam , and the slanderer is in the wrong regardless of whether he is a Muslim christian, Hindu Buddhist or atheist.

people who do such things, do so according to their own personal grudges, and has nothing to do with religion.
The Quran has specific verses on such people (slanderers), and condemns them strongly.

Religion and common sense go hand in hand believe it or not, but some people are just far too fanatical to see this simple fact

They only view it negatively when atheists attack them, but the majority of Christians view atheists as regular persons with different beliefs, I think that is why atheists and agnostics get less hostilities in the Western world because the majority of westerners are Christians. But most Muslims do not like atheists, that is why you can hardly hear of any atheist from the Middle East.

Alas, someone asked this.

As an ex-christian(catholic - in b4 catholics aren't Christians), I was taught cause and effect, and how my actions towards others affects my own "salvation".

It is stated in the new testament that one should be kind to others but the questions and answers seen here show otherwise from what is stated in the bible.

Eastern religions dont see like that

Buddhism and Jainism do not have any concept of God

Hinduism has some saints who denied presence of any god, who is like a personal god a cruel or just...or jealous. That sage Patanjali has very high place in Hinduism

Hinduism do not condemn even atheists to hell

it seems to me that most religious people believe that the only cause and effect is -

if it's good...god did it.
if it's bad...satan did it.

whether we like it or not we are all representatives of our beliefs. if i am the only pagan someone comes in contact with they are going to assume that all pagans are like me...for good or bad.

i know a few christians who don't seem to be able to grasp that concept...

bright blessings

. I will support your right not to believe to the bitter end! Atheists are 2% of the population. I don't have much chance to meet or deal with Atheists. I do know that the ones like Dawkins seem bitter and hateful. Many on this forum seem rude and intolerant.

True true. To be truthful I know almost nothing about Atheism. So I don't attack anyone, I have no right to. And neither does anyone else. We all have our own beliefs, we dont have to agree.
