I have nothing against it. Immigrants are hard working people looking to make a better life for themselves. This is just like our own fore-fathers who left Europe, some as recent as 100 years ago. Mostly they come for the ample supply of jobs here and blend into our society.

I have no problem with Mexican immigration, and the effort that we expend in this country against "illegal" immigration is ludicrous. We should just open up the borders and insist that all comers learn a passable English to file tax forms, and pass the citizenship test.
I know I'll be a lonely voice in response to this question, but imagine if we did open the borders: suddenly, people from Mexico here illegally would pay taxes. They could become banked individuals, meaning they would have access to our credit markets (and add liquidity to those credit markets, which have faltered so terribly!).
With more people comes more infrastructure. With less focus on border control, there would be more flow of ideas BOTH ways across the border - the country could turn its attention to expensive problems that require effort at least equal to that which we expend on the stupid border fence idea. Those expensive problems include: global warming, the US's atrocious infant mortality rate and outrageously biased health care system, caring for our rapidly aging population, the really stupid war on drugs, and of course, the Middle East debacle.
But no: xenophobia is easier, and being a cowboy is more immediately satisfying than trying to understand and improve this country by welcoming outsiders and increasing our chances for economic success in the future (see: George W Bush n friends). Because this is AMURIKA.

I'm sure immigrants are hardworking people. But you know what? Just think how much better their own country would be if millions of those hardworking people stayed home to work hard there. Maybe, Americans would start thinking of moving south en masse, who knows?

'The illegal part of it should be curbed immediately with better border control. If they want to come they should play by the rules. First rule would be, they should be genuinely happy to apply for a work visa. Second rule they should learn English. Third rule they have to have a job under legal circumstances. Fourth rule, their kids should stay out of trouble. Break any of these rules=back to Mexico. That's the humble view of a non-American.

I don't think the issue is Mexican immigration. I think the issue is immigration. To target that one group just seems wrong to me. We get people from just about every country on the planet that come her illegally. However, they get to remain anonyms. It is an issue that needs to be addressed.
Now as one of those hypocritical American's, we need the cheap labor that those people bring. Face it, when you are used to living in a place that makes our slums look good, it is easier to settle for what so many of us think of as sub-standard living conditions in order to make money for your family abroad. It is harder when you are from here to settle for that standard when you are raised to believe you are entitled to something better. Stupid people who say "Those Americans who won't take those jobs are just lazy" are looking for the easy answer to a tough problem. They are not just lazy.
They don't want to move away from their families any more than you or I do. They may have not taken advantage of an educational system that may have problems, but is still better than being illiterate. Being exposed to other things outside of your comfort zone makes it difficult to leave friends and family to pick cotton or apples in some far off part of the country.
I have no answers on the subject, but there are issues that need addressing. Funny how people who are doing okay say stuff about the people who aren't, but I guess "They're just lazy."
OBTW, going the legal route "...average processing times for certain applications may grow longer. Naturalization applications filed after June 1, 2007 may take approximately 16-18 months to process." Personally, if I had an immediate need, I would not use this process. I would be here illegally too.

I could care less what your skin color is, what country you come from.
What I do care about is coming here legally, learning the language and blending to the wonderful melting pot of Americans instead of holding up another countries flag and demanding that Americans speak Spanish.

I think legal immigration is fine.
If Mexico is so bad then why don't all of the Mexicans that fight so hard towards getting into the USA fight to make their own county better?
They ban together here why don't they ban together in their own country and do something?

There doesn't seem to be any mexican immigration. They are invading in droves. Yes, I said invading. Build a wall, plant land mines, deport in mass after confiscating all property obtained in the USA. Threat them like an un uniformed army. Tell fox to ES&D.
No xenophobia here as mexicans are NOT a race!!!

I am 72 years old and on medicare medicare B and I have to pay 96. dollars for med B so the illegals can get it for free! I also have to pay 200. dollars to supplement what med. B does not cover!
Is this fair, the gov. pays nothing.

Mexican immigration is no different than any other immigration as long as it's done legally. We grow culturally from all those who immigrate here and I personally enjoy the diversity.
Happy Holiday's!
