Many Christians often say that GOD created the Universe, and that there was no need for anything to create GOD because he is outside of space and time.
Beyond the notion that that would mean GOD doesnt exist, since for something to exist, it probably has to be within the bounds of space and time, let's ponder this:
Christians say GOD is eternal, and just always was. What was GOD doing for say, 2 billion "years" before he made the Universe?
Was he sniffing cosmic dust? Was he painting his Godly toe nails? Just imagine this with me now. He always was......that means he could have been "always was", for 2 billion "years", before he finally took a notion to create the Universe!!??
What would be the purpose of an all powerful, all knowing GOD to create anything?Wouldn't a GOD be content with himself alone? Did he create us and the Universe simply to worship and praise him? Wouldn't that make him a vain and selfish Deity beyond belief?

joseph8638- It matters in that it is beyond absurd to think that some GOD was hanging about aimlessly for billions of "years" on end, before he went ahead and created matter? It's utter pointless to envisage such a thing!

It is enough for me that He is raising Himself a family.
If that makes Him "vain and selfish", then the urge to reproduce and raise children is also "vain and selfish"....

I think there's quite a few questions there...
As far as God being outside time and space and therefore not 'existing' - What being outside time and space would actually mean is that He is outside of the creation, and therefore not created, and therefore existing in a more real sense than anything else. If you're going for a play on words, you might have succeeded with that point. :)
Time is a created thing, and only started with the creation. There were no 2 billion years before the universe was created. The time that we live in is often represented as a line, right? If you're going to represent something in time, you might a timeline on a chalkboard. Well, I once heard it described that if our time is that line, then God's time is the chalkboard. It's not linear.
For your last question about why God needed to create people... I would say that He didn't 'need' to create us, but did so to show His love and patience with flawed and completely free-willed beings. Rather than why wouldn't' God be content, I would think Why _would_ God be content with just Himself? Wouldn't it have been more selfish to create no one?

I'm not a Christian but...
Space and Time are human concepts...
If God existed outside of time as you said; than 2 billion or 200 billion years, it would not mean anything to someone or something existing outside of time...
You again continue to assume that God was merely passing the time from some designated starting point in time until he created the Universe... this is a limited human perspective to assume that everything has to have a beginning and works within our concept of time and space.
Why God created us ? Well... humans have been asking that since they were capable of such thought... I doubt you are going to get the answer on Y!A...

How is this at all a challenge? Your questions do not make any sense, nor do they prove anything. Either you believe in God or you do not, it really isn't that hard of a concept to understand.
Nothing comes from nothing, no one knows where all has come from or how it all came into existence. Whether it be through God's creation or 'random big bang' all came into existance, there is no final answer. Even with faith you do not have all answers for how or why God does what God does, for as humans we are not God who is outside of time and space.

You take things too literally.
The bible is almost completely metaphorical. Science explains with their theories how the universe was created. The way the Bible says God created the universe in 7 days is symbolic, metaphorical. It does not mean he one day thought lets create a whole bunch of things that I can look at.
I believe God to be love. A force rather than a human, or a rat as South Park depicts him (lol). God is not just a living being that sits in the clouds. Perhaps you are right and he does not exist, but you believe in what you want and I will believe in what I want. Lets not start war.
He just always was because there is no other explanation. None of us know whether we are right or wrong, but we believe in what we believe in.

You are confusing what is physical with what is spiritual.
And why can't something exist beyond space and time?
Because you say it can't?
And if He is beyond space and time, then your 2 billion years becomes a meaningless concept.
The "purpose" of an infinite, omnipotent, omniscient entity would be beyond the capacity of a finite, limited mind to understand...
It is enough for me that He is raising Himself a family.
If that makes Him "vain and selfish", then the urge to reproduce and raise children is also "vain and selfish"....
And why are you challenging Christians, anyhow?
You don't believe in God, you say...or you have no belief in any god...(as if this were a meaningful distinction in real life)...so why do you concern yourself with Him?
Why do you waste time arguing over something that you are sure doesn't exist?
What is more childish...believing in Santa Claus, or getting angry with the kids who believe in Santa Claus, because, by golly, YOU don't??

God created the universe because He wanted to. God wanted to create us because He loves us. YOU are trying to impose YOUR feelings on God. You are putting yourself in the place of God and are imagining what YOU would do if YOU were God.
He is not vain, nor is he selfish.
NO, He was not sniffing cosmic dust. No, He was not painting his "godly toenails."
Is this REALLY your "final challenge?"
Cool! Thanks!
That means no more questions.....correct?
As for the person who said that we would make fun of your spellng errors, many atheists use this against Christians on a daily basis. When WE make spelling errors, we are uneducated and ignorant. When atheists make spelling errors, it is ok, for "everyone makes mistakes." There's a double standard, I believe.
I do not understand everything about God's creation of the universe. I do not know everything God knows. If I did, I would be God.
Calling people idiots gives an indication of what sort of person you are, you know.

Are you aware that this probably isn't the only universe. With string theory M now being accepted..there could be an infinite number of universes all with different laws of physics. The human mind has a difficult time trying to envision infinite. Do you know that science is now saying there are eleven dimensions..picture that. This universe is beyond your understanding. How would you understand God?

". . .for something to exist, it probably has to be within the bounds of space and time . . ." You have applied physical boundaries to spiritual matters. God is indeed not limited by physical boundaries. What does it matter what He was doing before he created the universe? It means He always was for 100 billion or one million billion years.
Your intellect is to small to challenge God. You should stick to a subject you know something about.

I would like to know, that if it is possible that an un-creaated God "always was", then why can't the Universe just always "have been".
Since matter can not be created or destroyed, only transformed, I believe that all matter always has been. And that matter eventually changed and became the Universe as we know it now.
