And is what you do written in scripture. Such as does the bible say its ok to have a bandstand instead of an alter. A big screen TV and such at the front of the church. How the Minister preaches are their any guidelines in the Bible for church service.

Well, I go to a non-denominational church and we have a band instead of the usual choir/piano playing service. I know that this is written in the scriptures.God didn't say no you can't use a big screen TV...the sad thing is when Jesus walked the earth there were no big Screen TVs. Now, technology has basically taken over our society and most of our children have become accustomed to watching TV, therefore, the only way to get the "Good News" to them is to have them watch it on TV. Now, as far as the minister goes, he preaches from his own personal experiences and he pulls certain scriptures out of the Bible, I don't think that there are any guidelines that he follows but, I'm not sure...I will definitely have to check into that. But, as far as if it's Ok or not, you are basically the one that has to make that choice. If you don't feel comfortable in a church with a bandstand, find one that meets your needs. Pray about what service God wants you to attend. Ask God if it's okay to have a bandstand, research it in the Bible. For instance, some people don't believe in dancing, I personally do, because I researched it and found several people in the Bible danced for the Lord....so you have to make the decision, then follow your heart, God will always lead you to where you need to go. Hope this helps.

Actually the Bible doesn't command that you go to church at all.
Matt 18: 20 For where two or three come together in my name, there I am with them.
And though I apologize at not being able to locate the verse offhand, there is a verse that says "Come together and worship the Lord" or something very similar. But nothing really that I have ever found that commands us to go to church.

As for how it should be set up, I believe Paul gave some guidelines. As far as that goes, it depends on if you believe that Paul's word is straight from God or his opinion on hos things should be. I only say that because some versus with Paul seem very opinion orientated with words like :"should" instead of "shall".

I say as long as the message is being delivered and that the technology does not overshadow what the Church is meant to deliver then it is all good.

What you describe are all recent ideas that have come into the churches.
I don't care for it. It's called worship, but I wonder if it isn't just entertainment for the congregation instead.
Every church is free to determine their own order of worship, but I do think some have crossed some lines they shouldn't have.
I have seen some things that in my opinion resemble the pagan rites I've read descriptions of.
This is the problem it has grown to be more "seeker friendly" when in fact it is supposed to be a WORSHIP service. The focus is now off God, and onto man, onto whatever pleases man.
The early church's services were far different...no instruments, singing without them, the Pastor would sit and the congregation would stand. But it varied.
Every culture brings changes, but never should these changes alter the purposes and reasons that have been laid down. People have lost the ability to discern.

In the New Testament Church, there is no longer a need for an Altar to sacrifice animals upon, since Jesus has already died for our sins. Therefore, no, we don't have one. We are not supposed to have one.

We use a screen and a projection system to put the words up so people can sing. We also use that projection system to put up the Bible passages from the sermon up for all to see.

This allows us to sing the songs we are led to sing by the Holy Spirit instead of having to decide by Tuesday so that they can be printed in a bulletin.

It also saves the money and effort to haul hymnals in and out of the building we are renting each Sunday morning.

Power Point is used to illustrate the sermon, and that helps people remember it better.

The preacher preaches out of the Bible, not Time Magazine.

Psalms 150 tells us to Praise the Lord with lots of different musical insturments:

1 Praise the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.

2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

4 praise him with tambourine and dancing,
praise him with the strings and flute,

5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.
Praise the LORD.

So yes the Bible does tell us to have a band stand.

See First Corinthains chapters 11 thru 14 and Acts chapter 20 for those guidelines.

Verse 7 tells the early church met on the first day of the week.

It also tells us that the sermon doesn't last only ten minutes.

Edit: The Bible tells us not to forsake assembling together with other Christians, that's in Hebrew chapter 10, verse 25:

25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

Difficult question,,,,,, I suggest you read the Bible yourself, and you live your life the way that you understand the Bible has told you that you should live it.
There were no bands , at least that we know of, and definitely no wide screens, etc. in Biblical times, so how is anyone to say these things are wrong?? I have only ever seen the word "alter" used in the Bible meaning where an animal was sacrificed to God in the old testament, and have you ever been to any church that sacrificed animals?
I believe in God, in the Bible, but you have to realize their are over 200 denominations of the "BAPTIST" church ALONE.
That is why I suggest you study yourself, and live your live according to how you believe God has told you to live your life after diligent studying of the scriptures for yourself.
This is only my opinion/suggestion, I know you will recieve many.
God bless you for starting your search of his word.

Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Joh 4:23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.

We worship God and try to be thankful for all He has given us. The reason that there are so many denominations that worship so differently is that there are very few concrete guideline in Scripture about an exact format.

I go to church on Sunday, because it is the day of rest. The day that God rested when he created the earth. So we go to church one day a week and worship him. In a real church you don't have tvs, movies and bands. It's a very solemn, quiet place to be and to pray.

If I ever go to church on sunday, that's because my fiance sings there. My attention is on him. I also singed in a church so there was a time I would go every sunday - I was focused on my singing part, but sometimes the priest would say interesting things too

Pete,
We partake of the LORDS SUPPER each and every LORDS DAY as the First Century Christians did. We also follow their example and Give as we have been prospered on the First Day of the week. We sing, pray, study and are enlightened from HIS WORD each and every week. We do our best to follow the Biblical examples and to do as HIS WORD tells us to. Have a wonderful week.
Thanks,
Eds
