Religion was never crammed down my throat, nor was I forced to believe. Sorry for your bad experiences, so why don't you blame your parents?

Well blame your parents for not protecting you. I told my mom that I didn't like to go to one particular service (a holly rolling kind). I never had to go again. My parents always stood by my side. Sorry that you had parents that didn't protect you.

If the question doesn't apply to you then be quiet. It isn't ALL about you. Get over yourself.

If I based my opinions and beliefs on something that other people have said about me, I would have to hate myself. Guess I am not that easily influenced.

Chrissy:
Words cannot harm you. It may irrate you but it cannot harm you. Smoke can harm you. So your comparision is flawed. Besides that person is just one person. I had pamphlets from all types of religions crammed into my face on campus. Most of them come from new age religions too. I even had a teacher allow a lecturer talk about some asian spiritual religion. They passed out literature and CDs and everything. If they were Christians I doubt the school would allow it. Do I blame that religion? Nope, I blame the people who didn't think to ask for they started preaching.

By the way, I too have nutty zealous relatives. My religious parents taught us the differences between zealots and normal folks. Plus as I said before, they protected us from people like that.
I can see that most of your parents were weak, that is too bad.

From my experience Atheists always seem to blame religion for the actions of its followers.

I'm Christian and never had religion crammed down my throat. As a child, my parents took me to different churches and synagogues so that I could experience different religious sects. I was also encouraged to read anything that I wanted to so that I could develop & expand my mind. I have very enlightened parents!

I don't blame my parents. Why don't you try getting a grip, and stop assuming things about people? My parents never crammed religion down my throat. In fact, it was their encouragement for me to study nature, the arts and other science that led me to conclude there was no god at an early age.
You're boiling over with anger about something, but it's not the fault of atheists.

If you opinion is different than some one else's then you are cramming it down their throats
If that opinion is religious you are just carming it you are oppressing them as well.
I've never crammed my belief on to any one but I have been laughed at, told I was stupid, told I am oppressive jerk, and I hate (insert whatever here) because I am a Christian And that is just on Y!A
Who is doing the judging and cramming there?

My parents were not responsible for cramming religion down my throat. It was people around me. My neighbors, my parents friends, my grandma, and grandpa. That is the main reason why we are atheist. Because of all the annoying people out there who think its okay to preach their religion to everyone. I think it's rather rude!

DD,
Nothing was ever Crammed down my throat. I became a Christian about age 30 long after a Near-Death Experience and studies to find our GOD and Creator. HIS TRUTH is now mine. I am sorry that YOUR Parents did not care enough about you to assist you in finding that TRUTH. I would be glad to assist when YOU are ready to do so. Have a great week.
Thanks,
Eds

Because it was not my parents who crammed it down my throat. It was random Christians who "feared for my soul" and wanted to "save me" and gave me literature and tried to forcefully drag me to church and knocked on my door asking if I had found Jesus and left pamphlets on my windshield and held signs telling me "God Hates Fags" while I was marching in a gay rights parade and told me I was a baby killer when I went in to Planned Parenthood to get my birth control prescription filled. It was those Christians who crammed it down my throat, THAT is why I blame Christians.

Cause it wasn't my parents who tried to force religion on me, but others. For example, my religion teacher from school. My parents and grandparents only balanced me, it is strangers who tried to twist my mind
