its a very funny incident. i was very scared of needles n injections that doctors use.when i was just 8 yr old, my mom took me to doctor for injection. i was not aware of that, but when i came to knew that i started shouting very loudly
it was impossible for doctor to give me injection, so my mom had to clamp her hand on my mouth to smother my screams. she kept her hand tightly pressed on my mouth until doctor was finished with his job.if she wouldnt had covered my mouth, i would have created a scene out there coz i was screaming really hard.this incident really makes me laugh till now

.thank god i didnt had a blocked nose that day.do u think that my mom did the right thing at that moment? n why?

I'm sure the short time it took for her to cover your scream was enough for the doctor to give the shot w/o smothering you.

well we will never know, unless u have really sufferd pshcological damage I believe that you can not judge all parents in hind site. What i beleive is that your mother did the best she could with the skillds she had and only had the best for you in mind while trying to avoid the embarrissent of you screamming.
She did her best its not about Right or Wrong at this point.
For you learn as many alternatives as you can for your child if u have one and use what works within your comfort level.

Your Mom did what she thought was best at that time. No one is a perfect parent, it doesn't come with a manual. You obviously needed the injection, were unable at 8 years old to control your reaction, & the misery you temporarily felt outweighed the fear you would have instilled in the other children waiting. You didn't have a blocked nose so that doesn't figure into the issue. You say that it made you really laugh until now. Unless something really traumatic has happened to you recently, you need to let this go & focus on something else.

Pshhh You should have seen what we had to do t children at the dental office I worked at. (Parents permission, of course)

WE had "bite blocks" that we shoved in thier mouth so they could not close it

Head straps, arm atraps, body straps, feet straps

On top of that, an actual person holding the bite block in firmly and holding thier head and jaw straight. All while they were usually screaming thier head off and while the dentist drills at thier teeth.

Quit whining.

Of course mommy did the right thing. If you didn't receive those injections you could have been very very sick. We only do what's right for our children. The pain only lasted a few minutes, but as you can see the memory has lasted you a lifetime. Mommy knows what's best. When you see your mom bring the story up and give her a hug.

Well...parents have to do some things that dont feel quite right for kid or parent....I'm sure your Mom really didnt want to have to clamp her hand on your mouth..but to get the job done, it was probably a whole 2 minutes you were restrained...which seemed like forever to both of you.

I might have done the same thing, or I might have let you scream your head off...but I think for your Moms sake, I wouldnt worry too much about it...you survived it.
