We cannot do much any more about Global Warming .

But we can do a lot about not damaging the Environment more, and be more frugal or economic with our Natural resources ,since we get an additional 70 million people every year with an accumulative factor included ,

And we can do a lot about contaminations, especially of the soil,Air and water.

ECO FRIENDLY BEHAVIOR
The best we can do as individuals is be more responsible ,in our own neck of the woods
Organize well publicized clean up parties ,talk on the radio
Have citizen meetings
Get the schools involved to plant trees and listen to environmental awareness talks,

If you do any cleaning up leave signs behind saying who cleaned, why and ask people not to start dumping rubbish again ,leave a hole or bins ,in case people come with trash ,

POSITIVE ACTIONS)
Classify trash take out all the organic waste and make compost with it ,the worst you can do is throw it with the trash
70% of contamination is due to organic waste that is mixed in with the garbage .
And it is just as bad in the sewer where it helps to breed rats and in the landfill it poisons the ground

And it is the easiest to take care of
o first of all we have to classify trash at least keep the organic to one side ,like in a plastic bin with a lid
If you got a few meters of ground ,you only need 1 or 2 square meters in a shallow hole ,in the shade ,that you can wet now and again ,where you dump everything that is organic ,from toilet paper, bones vegetable cuttings ,eggshells,,,excrement ,and cover regularly with leaves to keep humid and to hide any smell
the worms will come and decompose the wastes turning it into beautiful black soil for the garden of flower pots .
If you are in a apartment ,if you have a balcony get a big plastic bin drill some holes in the side and lid ,
Add a few buckets of sand now and again to put over the trash ,you should really stir or move the stuff at times to aerate it and ensure that the decomposition is overall ,keep moist
This rubbish does not get big very fast and the thing works for a long time with out getting full

If you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to slowdown the destructive processes
Reduce carbon emissions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, power plants etc.
Water harvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground water flows from the rains into the ground to supply subterranean water supplies.
The protection of existing forests.
Stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
Education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
Education on environmental awareness
education on family planning to curb over´population
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
More environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
More dams.regulations and control for public behavior
Alternative efficient public transport to discourage the use of the internal combustion engine

Nothing. There will be plenty of ice in 2012. The polar ice cap is actually thickening. The amount the edges of the ice cap recede fluctuates but the main body of ice is actually thicker.

Man Made Global Warming is a hoax being used to try and tax the United States for being the greatest nation on earth. Our environmental laws have driven most heavy industry out of this country. The real polluters are China, India, and the former Soviet Union.

1/2 of "stuff" in a US oil refinery is for pollution control and all of the pictures on the news of the white "smoke" coming from refineries is actually steam not pollution.

Increased CO2 will increase plant growth which will increase O2 output balancing out the atmosphere. The sun, the earths only source of energy, is the reason for fluctuations in temperature.

First, don't listen to any hypocrites like Al Gore, who in-spite of preaching global warming, he uses 20X the energy in his mansion than the average person uses in their home. Second, the three R rule: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Third, Grow HEMP for bio-fuel along with the 25,000 other uses. There are so many amazing facts about hemp. Hemp could truly be a key in making the world a better place. Finally, Fourth, Don't let corporations and big business screw the people for money. The whores of this world are big business that simply care about profit first and people and environment last. Al Gore is a whore!!

If you believe that I hope you remember to check in 2012 to see if their is ice in the arctic. If there is I expect you to remember and denounce the scientists that make such a claim.

You may also want to look at the earth's track record for temperature. It goes something like this...Global warming, global cooling, global warming, global cooling. In otherwords it is normal for the earth to warm and cool huge amounts.

So relax, yes care for the environment to the best of your ability, but realize that ultimatly your life is a gift and you should do something good with it instead of wasting it looking at the earth's temperature gauge.

Hey, I have an idea, why don't you and the Scientists that believe this silliness go up to the Arctic ocean right now and see if it's still melting. Huh! You don't want to. Why Not? Oh === because it's -32 degrees Celsius up there right now.

If you can show me how anything can melt in the winter I might believe the Arctic Ocean will be thawed out in the year 2012.

The only way Greenland is still melting somewhat right now, is due to a fissure in the earth causing Lava to rise.

In the 1970's, scientists said we would be in an ice age by now. When are people going to understand that the surface temperature on Earth fluctuates?

If it wasn't for temperature fluctuations, there wouldn't have been an Ice Age (not the movie) and the resulting emergence from it.

CO2 is causing global warming, so says the global warming community. Are we to stop breathing, are we to prevent volcanoes from erupting, are we to control the sun?

Do nothing.

grow gills? provide suntan lotion for polar bears?
there will still be plenty of ice in the arctic by 2012, worst prediction I've heard claims that by 2050 the arctic will lose permanent ice cover (for the summer period)
We should do what the experts say we should, reduce oil and coal consumption, reforest every available piece of land, and try to artificially reduce the amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere. If we do all these, the effects of global warming will be temporary.

Not true. NASA is saying that the ice decline is due to natural water currents, not due to "global warming", and the ice is getting thicker, not disappearing.

"Our study confirms many changes seen in upper Arctic Ocean circulation in the 1990s were mostly decadal in nature, rather than trends caused by global warming,"

The great thing about climate change research is you can make long range predictions which cannot be proved incorrect soon enough to impact on your career. No career minded climate researcher is going to predict anything so soon as 2012.

Researchers stopped believeing in their own infallability after they predicted stronger and more intense hurricanes after Katrina and more global warming after the hottest year on record, which was 1998.

I'd suggest leaving your massive estate ( which consumes 30x as much energy as the average home ) and hop on a private jet ( which burns as much fossil fuel on a trip as many people use in a year ) and go meet hundreds of other people who live the same lifestyle.

Then you can all get together and demand the rest of us stop using so much energy.

2007-12-17 09:53:01 · answer #10 · answered by Anonymous · 2 2

that is just rediculess, no reputable scientist would predict that it just wont happen but we have to act by 2012 otherwise we wont be able to avoid 2degree C or more (regarded as the upper limit of "safe" climate change) in climate change.
